Update 67 Charger engine Bay and core support painted

I made a cart for my engine and transmission that holds it at about the right height of where the engine would be when the wheels and tires are on. I have my car on car moving dollies, so I increased the height of the fixture about 2 inches to compensate for that. The front of the cart actually holds the K frame by the rear bolt area of the K frame but is made of angle iron so you still have access to all four K frame bolts.

Once you lower it down the K frame bolts are long enough to get at least two started, and then a jack under the K frame will draw the other two up close enough....same deal on the transmission cross member...the jack will get you to the final location. I used heavy angle iron to bolt to the bumper bracket holes on the frame and lifted the car with an engine hoist.

If I was to build the cart again....I would make it 4 wheeled for more stability in the back and use a little heavier caster.

Your engine bay looks great. I usually shoot mine in single stage enamel to achieve the factory look. Your car is going to be sweet once that big Hemi engine is sitting in there!

Nicely done! I need to make me one of those too!

This is what I made for my Coronet to slip in and out courtesy of the lift.

And I fully agree with dsd and 440.

Can you safely install it from the top? Of course, lots of people do it all the time. BUT, in my opinion, you have so much more control installing from the bottom. Plus, installing from the bottom allows you install all accessories on the engine. This means you won't be leaning on sensitive, freshly painted fenders either to do it.

Thanks Hawk, appreciate the comment.
