I Finally Did It.....EFI

Give me a few minutes, my wife is on the computer.

This is the new filter setup. I've never dealt with AN fittings before. There are a lot of options but they do work well.

This is on the current 383, but switching all my soft lines to AN makes it so easy to work on. I used an AN setup from the pickup to the 3/8 hardline. I'm considering EFI on the new engine. Did you modify your tank for the EFI/electric pump??

Looks good. I'm considering going AN to the hardlines now. Pretty slick.

I have the Holley Sniper Fuel Tank with in tank pump. I bought it on sale a couple years ago.

Merry Christmas!!

I'm now going down the rabbit hole of fuel line. I placed an order through Summit for ptfe hose and fittings to replace the rubber sections. Not because I really needed to but because I like tinkering with the car.

Lots of benefits to this over rubber hose from what I read. Should be interesting.

There are 45 degree to AN adapters if you have a flare. The amount of hardware available for AN makes it like a Lego set.

No flare on the lines coming up the firewall, only a partial to bump to keep a hose clamp in place. No room to flare it and no patience to try lol. I have 4 compression fittings ordered (2 going to the motor, and 2 connecting the lines to the tank).

Well, I got real good at taking the gas tank out. :BangHead:. Worked to get the new ptfe line and fittings in. The engine side went smooth. This hose is very east to work with and no issues.

Had a ton of issues on the 1/4npt to 6 AN feed line from the tank mount to the hardline. Kept leaking. Pull it down, take it off, repeat. Pulled out my magnifying loupe and checked the weld for a crack. It was tight tight. I even ran my npt tap into the mount and tried again. No dice.

Finally pulled it, put in the brass barb that I took out and no problems. Has to be the fitting I bought from Summit. The return side is sealed.

I smell like gas.

That bastard on the right...

Brass fitting seals fine. Does the Summit fitting look like npt or straight thread?

And with pulling the tank I had to siphon out the gas too. Having and electric pump makes it easier as I could jump the pump and fill my my gas can.

Looks solid! I also prefer using AN fittings instead of hose and hose clamps.
I'm quite sure that is not straight BSPP thread, normally they will go in a few threads only in a NPT threaded hole and that one has been in quite far.
Thread pitch is same but they will run stuck quite fast in the tapered hole.
I sometimes feel like brass/brass fittings has some better sealing then mixing brass with steel or stainless.
I had to seal a 1/8" plug on a Tee fitting with PTFE tape as the loctite thread sealant had a small drip.

I had some issues with the AN fittings during installation on the ptfe hose, the braided wires were getting stuck between the fitting threads when pulling the nut over, which caused 1 fitting to cross thread and had to replace it.

I even sealed it with aviation form-a-gasket and the leak was a solid flow, not just a drip. The brass barb is in and not going anywhere. FI hose and FI hoseclamps.

The ptfe fittings were very easy to put together. Taped the line, slid on both retaining nuts, cut with cutoff wheel, blow out hose, add ferrule, add end. The stainless braid tended to flower out from the cutting enough to get the ferrule on easily.

Update: No fuel leaks on any of the fittings. The Sniper is running great. No lean pop and plenty of power. Still starts right up without issue. I've been driving it quite often to try and fill out the learn table.
