I found the guy that bought my GTX from me 5 years ago on Facebook.
This is where he's at with it.
He will be installing a hellcat drivetrain.

Glad the car will see continued use the way it was meant to!

That's pretty damn cool, looks to be a younger man
he's knee deep in it too, doing stiffening & strengthening
fab work, welding etc.

a Hellcat drivetrain very cool too

The kid in the picture is the owners son. He says he's planning on daily driving it.

Seems like Hellcat Swaps are the turbo LS of the Mopar world....can’t argue with the powers and dependability. BUT, boring as heck and a dime a dozen.

I completely disagree. Hellcat swaps are awesome.

And this, in my opinion, is why I enjoy the car hobby so much. There are lots of different likes and dislikes, and none wrong, just different!

I enjoy checking out all kinds of builds, even if they aren't my cup of tea.

Agreed. I love original stuff however as said reliable HP that comes in a package is cool. My 68 GTS has a cable drive tach and an old school 440 crank/LY rod 451 (and n20). My 66 Charger has a G Force 5-speed and is going CnP and Turbo. Two totally different animals there. One is an old school build and the other takes advantage of new technology. I like them both for different reasons. Next up is the Charger with the Ti valved 8500rpm t-ram motor and the Lenco. It's about scratching different itches for me.

And lastly if 700 honest hp dosn't impress your car must be way fast lol. It's always funny when people that have experienced 500hp think 700 is not a big deal. 700 horse on the street is no joke! Add traction and it's going to get your attention big time.

I have an unpopular opinion. And I’m ok with that. I don’t expect to change anybody else’s opinion. I appreciate the work it takes to do Hellcat swaps. I even said they are awesomely powerful and WAY more dependable. You would be foolish not to consider doing it. (Especially given the limitations of the old 440/383/400 blocks above 650-700hp)
And because it makes sense, you can’t go on social media without seeing at least 5-6 conversions being done on a daily basis...

Guess I’m the ONLY one that lost interest in the General Mayhem after the swap????

To me It was way cooler tooling around on dirt roads with an RV 440.

...and seriously, who doesn’t make 700hp? Solid lifter cam/ over the counter heads, 4brl. $5,600. Easy Peezy.

Nah, I did too.

And you know what, I think the show(s) that it was involved with and the people lost interest in it too.
I saw a RKE with F&F and both of them were saying it was more fun with the old 440, it's way too expensive and so on.

The Hellcat swap is totally badass. If I could have several, I'd want one.
But I can't have several.

$2600 for the heads, $1000 carb/intake/valve covers, pistons/ronds/crank/bearings $2000...

did they get all of the machine work, water pump, etc for free?

I bought a freshly built never ran Mud Truck engine. Guy blew up his 383 and built new short block.
I sold the Tunnel Ram, predator carbs, roller cam, Stealth Heads and aluminum roller rocker set up. Also sold the Milodon external oil pan, Mezier electric water pump, and Gear Drive.

no machine work, but Gary port matched heads and cleaned up plenum of intake.

Helped offset the cost.

looks like David Freiburger bought the General Mayhem back and is ditching the Hellcat drive train!!!!!

the availability of modern hemis and the expense of old school engine builds make modern swaps inevitable. And as long as it keeps people putting these cars on the road, I understand the appeal.

it’s my personal glitch, when ever I see a modern swapped old car, or worse, a Yellow car. It makes me sad.
