1964 Polara vs Polara 500

It’s is a sticker, so to speak.

Sticker you saying an embossed piece of metal?

I think the Polara 500 was like the Plymouth Sport Fury. The Fury had painted centers in the middle of the trim and Sport Furys had machine turned finish. The difference between a Fury and Sport Fury was Sport Fury had bucket seats and console and Furys did not....Think they did the same with Polara and Polara 500...my 2 cents

Jesus, it’s got a sticky back to it, hence, it’s a ******* sticker. Metal sticker, but still a ******* sticker. Don’t believe it, go take your off and show us the pic. It’s a ******* metal sticker!!!

It’s a ******* sticker, not an insert! Why not an insert? Cause there’s nothing to to hold it in or on or whatever the **** ya wanna call it. There’s no tabs that are pushed in the stainless trim, so yes, it’s a ******* sticker!!

Its a "machine turned" thin metal sticker. I agree with you 5.7 , but not at that level of rage yet lol

So - real question ---- is there a source for this machine turned "sticker" these days? Some of my trim has a bit of scarring on it -

I’m apologize for using the “F” word as an adjective. I was merely trying to get my point across that it is indeed a sticker.

Joe Souchy or Kramer should have them.

Standard Polara trim package.... NOT a 500. The Red fill on the side trim is my custom touch. Was originally just chrome. Raised "Polara" on the hokey stick is stock and was a cream color from the factory. Also... center backup lights have been deleted and converted to third tail lights because sequential turn signals were added.

I just did the same thing with my '64 Polara, using a universal sequensor kit. Now I don't have brake lights. Did you encounter this problem? I think I can run a separate wire back from brake switch to brake lights, but am concerned about back feeding sequencer module when I apply brakes. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I added '63 style back up lights in licence plate cove.

What brand sequencer did you use and how did you wire them? Sounds to me like you have a wiring problem. Especially if they are sequencing when you have the turn signals on.

Brand name was Malofusa, found them on Amazon. I wired them per wiring diagram in their website. Further investigation showed that they were not meant for circuits where turn and brake function were shared by same bulb. Since I already have them wired into rear harness, I would prefer not to tear that all apart again. What brand module did you use and where could I find them?

After my first fiasco, I found another set of sequencers that are supposed to work brake lights as well as turn signals. Made by Auto Trix of Tulsa, Ok. I ordered them 2 weeks ago and am still waiting. I will update if they work as advertised. These work with stock bulbs.

The Polara 500 package was a 318 or larger engine and came standard with bucket seats, the "Polara 500" on the front fenders, and wheel covers.

The Polara package came standard with the side trim, three tail lights, hood spear, the decklid trim, and the rear trim around the tail lights

The real oddball is the side trim... I have seen it filled in black and also the machine turned style... my Polara 500 has the machine turned style but not sure if that is 500 specific or not as I have not seen any documentation stating that.

The machine turned style trim is Polara 500 specific. The painted side trim is Polara specific and the color varies depending on exterior color.

This tail light set-up with 3 lights on a small backing plate was used exclusively on Canadian Dodge 440 series. However, I have a fall 1963 magazine article announcing the new 1964 cars. I imagine some of he cars were pre-production, because one picture shows a Polara sedan with this style tail light setup. Chrysler must have at least thought about it. Another idea that did not make it to production was 3 red tail lights per side for Polara 500. If you look at the body wiring diagram in '64 shop manual, it shows this for Polara 500 and the production red, white, red for Polara.

The “500 only” is a sticker. Check with Kramer or Joe Souchy.

I used a kit from WebElectric. Here's a link.. https://zips.com/parts-detail/seque...K5x0w-4_pZ070ifINxdUmxt5bYDuVhBBoCiEoQAvD_BwE

Works with both LED and regular bulbs and they have kits for 2 or 3 tail light systems. Here's what the modules look like. One on each side. They also sequence the brake lights from inside to outside when the brakes are depressed. Works as an attention getter when you hit the brakes.

Agreed. The spun aluminum insert on the Polara 500 was indeed stick on and the base Polara models were painted black. In my experience the Polara 500’s interior roof trim was always chrome as well, including the mirror. Whereas a base Polara, was always painted black, at least in my travels here on the north side of the border. In fact, the only Polara 500’s ever seen north of the border were US made and imported. Having said that, I did hear that one person claims that he owns a Polara 500 that was Canadian made.

I started buying and driving 64 dodges in 1972 and have had many. All of the CDN made 64 Dodges had the 4-hole Plymouth style dash clusters. I also found that the US Dodge rectangular cluster panels could not be swapped with the round hole type cluster. The US Dodge rectangular dash harness connector was round and the 4-hole Plymouth dash type was a rectangular connector.
I wish I would have hung onto my last Polara 500, sold it 25 years ago damnit. Still got a 64 Belvedere though that is lots of fun.
