I bought a set of Coker radial red line tires through Jeg's 3 or 4 years ago and had them installed on my '67 R/T up here in Ontario. Towards the end of old car season in 2019, I noticed I was getting a shake in the steering wheel. In the spring of 2020, the shake was worse, so I took my car to local tire shop to get the front tires rebalanced. The technician showed me that my shake was due to belt separation on one of the tires. I don't think there are more than 6000 miles on the tire and it is junk. The tires are based on BFG Silvertown carcass. Has anyone else had problems with Coker Tires, or is this just my bad luck? Are they made to just look at on a Trailer Queen, or can a person actually use them as a regular tire?

Did you check the date code when you got them
How old are they

I had a similar problem. Low miles (likely 2-3.000) but the tires were 10 years old. It happened to two of them within a short time

These are the worst tires I have ever driven on. They came on my Belvedere when I bought it and the first thing that I changed out.

Date code was 07/17. I bought them 04/18, so have had them less time than I thought. Likely only 4000 miles on them.

A very good friend of mine has a set on his 67 Coronet vert. Car has had a shake in it since day one. They are the BFG carcass tires

he put a set of Cokers on his 68 Coronet and no problems since day one ,,,sadly long longer being made

Im looking at going with diamond back for mine later this year

I believe yours is not an isolated case. Generally reviews of Coker tyres are not good.
I went for the Diamondbacks as well.

That's not good for me, I just purchased from Coker a set of the 14 inch redline BFG for my car and haven't installed yet, still in wrapper. Gives me pause to install them. Wow, never thought I'd read a post like this for a brand new tire.

I have an older set of Coker redlines on my 67 GTX and they have held up OK. Feel like they could stand to be rebalanced but ride is not bad. But - in comparing pricing I think the Diamondback tires may be slightly cheaper than Coker and considering the generally good recommendations on Diamondback, it makes sense to go to them in the future. If blackwall radial tires are an option I have Mickey Thompson S/Ts on a car and they are really a nice tire. And I just put a set of Hankook Kenergy S/Ts in 75 series radials on another old car and they are a very high quality tire for minimal cost - only drawback is they do have the busy, modernistic sidewall molding.

Bought a 1992 4Runner, December 91. Wore out the factory tires and put on BFG`All Terrain tires. Bought another set later. Sold the 4Runner in 2012. It had 364,000 kilometres on it. Those tires were good for about 70,000 miles. I can’t complain, maybe just lucky.

I will likely but a pair of Diamondback red line radials on the front of my R/T to replace bad Coker. I have used BFG T/A radials on other vehicles with no problems.

Can't speak for Coker, but I had the same problem with BFG's.
