Here’s why car thefts are soaring

The new normal: pervasive idiocy

Last year Tampa had a rash of guns being "stolen" from unlocked vehicles in people's driveways.

??!!??

What the **** kind of gun owner leaves their weapon in an unlocked car over night?

Seriously, what the ****????

You can't fix stupid. People will never figure out that if you slow down you will go faster. Leaving the fob in the car because you just wanted to run in for a coffee or something and couldn't be troubled to take the key. Now your standing on the street with your coffee in hand trying to figure out what to do next. Your not going any where fast while wait for the police to show up.

Breaking news: Class action lawsuit filed against car manufacturers for defective product that enables cars to be stolen.

Welcome to the Idiocracy.

these folks are breeding and voting.

There's a very active "gang" of juveniles in my area that have been stealing multiple cars a night for the past 5-6 months. They often run from police at speeds over 100mph. They go from neighborhood to neighborhood looking for fobs in cars. The courts are refusing to give any serious penalties to them. Many have been arrested and arraigned several times already.

New cars with Key Fob's are clueless that the Fob is constantly trying to
"shake Hands" with it's paired vehicle. Even if the fob is in your house at
night, it's sending it's signal out to unlock the door when you get within
range and allow you to start the vehicle. If you buy one of those fancy Gizmos
on Flea Bay, it will pick up the frequency and you can re-program a "blank" in
your car sitting out front. Then your buddy walks over to the vehicle, It says
"Hello" and unlocks the door and waits for you to push the button and start
the vehicle and drive off. What Idiots! They build your car so it can be easily
stolen. Glad I don't own a "New" vehicle!

While I agree with everyone on here about locking your car, WHY is the MEDIA and LAW enforcement NOT blaming the Criminal FELONS who they keep turning loose to PREY upon us Law abiding Citizens???

It seems to me that to cover their ***'S and to BLAME the VICTIM for the Criminals BEHAVIOR is just more fake news to convince the PEOPLE that it is there fault??????
Joe,
It's the same with guns. They steal them from us, so lets get rid of our guns so they can't seal them from us, problem solved, no more gun violence.

My key fob does not unlock the car unless I press the unlock button so I have no idea what anyone is complaining about.....Yes its easy to forget it in the car but you cannot lock the car without it.......Now if you leave it in your unlocked car, walk away and return to find your car stolen thats on you, not the car maker.....I would remind everyone that failing to lock/secure your vehicle, leaving anything potential dangerous inside that in the wrong hands. , realizing that a stolen car can result in tragedy, constitutes a degree of negligence on the part of the vehicle owner.
My car is always locked when its out of my sight

Locking your car door isn't going stop a thief from breaking into you car.

A high percentage of crimes are crimes of opportunity. There are not enough resources in the world to stop all the criminals who take advantage of stupid, careless people. We can heap blame on criminals all we want, but it won't change a thing until people stop allowing themselves to be victims and we stop electing people who are bleeding hearts soft on crime.

Don't you know that you can't blame criminals in 2021. C'mon man!

Know a guy who doesn't bother locking his cars, ever. His position is that leaving the car unlocked will prevent the need to "break " into it and therefore minimizing damage. As for valuable contents inside, he doesn't keep anything in it so that's not a problem. He also drives manual transmission cars only so that eliminates 95% of car thieves, especially the younger ones. Finally, if they truly want your car they're going to get it; he says well, that's what insurance is for...

Not correct Steve there was a guy on the Honda form I belong to that found out the hard way. left his fob in the car, got out and filled the tank. Then went in side for something. Came back out to find the car had locked him out. At midnight in the middle of the desert 100 miles from no where. Dummy left his cell phone in the car also.
