WoW! The trunk weather stripping won't compress enough for the deck lid to close all the way!
I heard a couple of guys on the forum to leave it closed for a few days and it will stay down. I
set the latch about 1/4" low and closed it for now.Hope I don't have to change the gasket???
Oh wee, on to the Kilmat!

I expect you know , the QQ1 was a one year only color. Where did you find the color formula and where did you get your paint? The attached pic is my tribute car to the 68 Roadrunner I ordered new from the dealer. Looks like you are doing stellar work..................MO

zyzzyx, what wheels and tires are going on this car? What engine? Inquiring minds want to know.

Great looking car and I'm glad it is now on the return path. You have turned the corner so now it starts to get really fun permanently bolting on parts!

Keep up the good work!

Hawk

QQ1 was actually a half-year color that had a cut-off date if you were ordering the car.
They quit using it in July I believe? My car and Mario's were Born in June, and we both
have that P.I.T.A. hood latch location also. The paint is Spies Hecker, and they matched
the color with the inside of the deck lid before it was stripped. Dead Nuts! Had some
friends joke that it was a GM color from the label, but Hey, they had to start somewhere!
I plan on putting 15" Magnum 500's all around with the full chrome, not the trim ring.
Tires will be determined at the last minute. The engine is a 440, 0.030 over with 906
ported heads opened up to Max-Wedge size with an Indy Dual plane intake and Eagle
H-Beam rods. Speed Pro pistons with a 0.080 dome (cut down from 0.140) 727 TF
with a 2800 stall convertor and a Dana 60 with a 3:73. Hooker competition headers
and I almost forgot, I opened the stock oil pickup passage in the block to 11/16 and
put the Milodon Road Race pan on and their 1/2" pickup.

Huh, didn't know that. The SPD of my Coronet is October 23, 1967 so it's a pretty early build. Thanks for posting the pics of the paint formula, may come in handy for me one day!

I do know that PPG mixes all of the Mopar High impact colors, but my friend's system
at the time was Spies Hecker so that's what I went with. The DuPont IMRON is fantastic
material, but no one has the mixing stock anymore. Anyone can mix any color, If they
want to, or have apiece of the car to match it to. It helps to know the size of the flake
to get it right!

One of the problems with getting todays paint formula's to match the original formula is, Some of the materials used back in the day, are no longer available. Example, lead. they tell me that lead affects the color . I wanted to buy my paint locally and Martin Seynor basecoat clear coat was the only one that came up with a formula. There is so much mettalic in mine , it looks a little lighter color in bright sunlight than what I remember the original. But that is OK, I like it. .... BTW Plymouth called that color " Electric Blue" and the same color at Dodge was " Bright Blue"....................MO

So today I'm dedicating to installing my windshield and back glass reveal molding
clips. Bought the front and rear kits from Year One. The front clips are in a green
"Precision" bag. Look pretty nice compared to stock ones. Only thing is they gave
me two too many for the cowl set, and one shy for the top and one screw missing!
Lucky I kept the old ones! Front done, now on to the rear!

Beautiful color ! My car was originally that color but unfortunately 20 years ago when I repainted it I wanted different and went with viper blue

Let's see some pic's! If you like it, that's what matters! You've already
had it for twenty years, so that's what counts!

Twenty year old paint job looks fantastic! I see you can still get some good gas! Ha!
Thanks!

What are you referring to here?

I have a 68 R/T SPD 11 Sep 67.

Wonder if mine does too, but don’t know what you mean.
