Did a 67 Coronet 500 come factory with a Hemi??

Hey Jerry, Do you know of a reliable source, a publication, maybe one of Govier’s books, or anything that don’t get their information via the that has production numbers on 1966/67 B Bodies with Hemis? Since the subject has been partly broached, thought I’d ask....
I was pulled into a recent conversation, kicking and screaming, at the local MoParians Monthly Mayhem, (this is just the four old *** MoPar freaks who’s survived with one foot stuck in the 70’s ), the congregation takes place at the shop of whoever is the busiest, and actually trying to get shizz done....
Saw this on ebay, a 1966 Coronet 500 Hemi convertible. Missing the fender mounted relay bracket. Not sure about PB booster. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Dodge-Coronet-500-Hemi-Convertible/174568055918
This is a great example of why our hobby is sinking in da gutter.....

Agree. Can't a price like that without paper work. Went to see original owner of my car mentioned he had paper work for the car. Paid him $300 for order form and original window sticker and other things.

I don't think it's in the gutter, just too many people spouting information they don't know and exaggerate. @R413 points out a lot of inaccuracies and misleading knowledge. I try to keep one of these books around with me along with one of Galen's casting # books.

Thanks for this great info on 67 non R/T, non WO Hemi cars.

All new to me.

I was somewhat involved in the discovery of the "we didn't build any" 67 Satellite Hemi cars back around 1990.
Sure wish I'd have bought the one that was in question then for $500 when it was offered to me the first time!

I have a copy of that road test with the white Hemi 1967 Coronet 500, and figure it has to be a 1 of 1. Another magazine, I think Motor Trend, used the same car to do a comparison performance test against an R/T powered by a 440 Magnum. I own a 1967 Coronet R/T, 440 automatic, so I have a lot of literature on these cars. The U.S. 1967 Coronet showroom brochure has a bronze/black vinyl top Coronet posed in front of a board fence. It has a 383 Four Barrel sign on the front fender. The Canadian brochure has the same car posed in front of the same fence(with some details airbrushed out), but now it has a 426 Hemi sign on the front fender. Very curious.

1966 was the highest production year for Street Hemi cars. The ad is misleading to say 21 Hemi '66s built...perhaps '66 Coronet 500 Hemi convertibles!

That VIN tag is not a repop. I've owned over two dozen '66 Coronets and twelve '66 Belvedere/Satellites, plus a few '67s over a 40-year-period to know.

It's not a bad-looking car, but that yellow is far too bright to be Daffodil Yellow. Looks much more like Lemon Twist to me.

The console looks good, but it's out of a '68 C-body, with that woodgrain center and the cig lighter on the butt plate. Nice, nonetheless.

Trunk lid panel should be red and not black where it is black now. Plus, redlines were not an option on a '66, nor were any kind of Magnum 500. Not even those 15" Fords.

What was the BIN on this car? Anyone remember? Don't get me wrong, for a "Day Two" car, or a personalized restoration, it's a really slick car, overall. But for what I can imagine what he wants for it, it's probably too high.

The yellow 66 hemi convertible is most certainly a restamp. This car has been known for some time as a fake Hemi.

Show me another 66 VIN that looks like this one lol

28-

That H does look a little "hard" stamped compared the the other digits.

Hi folks, I am not certain about the 67 Coronets. But, here is an add for the 66 Coronet 500 Converts. It clearly states that a 426 was available. Best, B.

1966 is different.

A coronet 500 was top of the line then. Same goes for 1966 Satellite in both hardtop and conv. Both were avail with the hemi no problem

In 1967 the GTX and Coronet RT were considered to be top dog. And as such the 1967 440 and 500 trim levels were SUPPOSED to no longer be the performance models of choice.

But like all things Mopar back then, Never say Never

Another supposedly not avail
1967 Satellite conv, Hemi 4 spd

And btw..... i would love to own this one.
But hemi and convertible is / was way outta my budget

One of the most attractive things about the one I almost bought (three times) was the letter (IIRC 1989) from Chrysler saying that they did not build any 1967 Hemi Satellites and that all 1967 Plymouth B body cars equipped with the 426 Hemi engine were GTX models.

...and the second letter from Chrysler (1990 IIRC) saying that they did in fact build five 1967 Satellites equipped with the 426.
I believe a few more have turned up since then.
