That's for sure. My "948" radiator is in the middle of an $850 re-core! The aluminum radiator that Jerry posted is a great deal for a driver if numbers are not a concern.
For once we get good prices. I just called the rad shop that has done a few rads for us. To flush and check my 26 inch 3 core rad. 40-50.00. If I need a new core it could be between 350.00-400.00 because copper just went up. Dad is about 80 years old and still comes in. There are at least 4 other shops that do the old rads also.Everyone keeps saying that ^^^^^ but hopefully some of you still have a local radiator shop that still knows their craft. Mine, the young lad that owns it went to school with my son and has taken the business in another direction that his father could never imagine (he has warehouses of cooling/heating products both here, Arizona and mexico). Kid (37 lol) operates out of the family rad shop, from the little office in the front. Guys that want classic radiators done, his now 78 year old father comes in and does recores after the son sources a core. Like I said, mine was taken from a busted up unit with good tanks to as new for $420 CDN (including 13% tax!).
