On another note Mark. It looks like the hood catch on the bottom side of the hood is natural, not painted? I always thought that part was painted with the hood.



I dunno. It's got the same patina as the secondary catch.

That makes perfect sense! Too bad that the car don't have the original chrome molly muffler bearings!
 
That's a nice car funny how today those little gaps and other things would cause a commotion but were accepted back when this was made .
I especially like option C65 foam seat cushion what was the other option ?

Getting paperwork for your car is a bonus. I went to see original owner of my Satellite. We were chatting and asked about certa-card. He said it was lost in a kitchen fire but I have paperwork for the car. Order receipt, loan agreement, modifications to the car at or around delivery time and the original window sticker. Paid $300 for it, probably could've got it for less but didn't want to have him think to hard. Could've gotten like that $25k build sheet.

This weekend's bg project was putting on the stock exhaust manifolds and complete new exhaust system from Accurate. Although the manifolds are not the originals, they will suffice until I find a date correct set.

In the engine compartment, the old plug wires were replaced with a vintage set of 1983 Mopar orange wires along with the factory wire brackets. I did locate a hood release lever, put that on and removed the inside hood release cable that the original owner had installed right after he bought it. I sent the radiator out to a local shop to be flushed and pressure tested, but a leak was found, so I just sent that out to the experts at Glen-Ray. Unfortunately, they told me that it could take up to two months to get it back.:(

The original 52 year old coolant hoses were junk & the heater hoses went on and I changed the dual pulley alternator with a more correctly date coded single pully alternator that I had in stock. A non-working emergency flasher had to be changed and corrosion had to be cleaned out of the left side fender turn signal to get that working. Everything electrical in the car is working as it should.

In spite of how nice it looked on the surface, this car was in need of a good amount of TLC and because it's been sitting for so long, that's not surprising. Although I wasn't expecting the brake & radiator problems, it hasn't been a bad project for me to tinker with.

Looks great Mark. It's gonna be cold for sometime so at least it's out now rather than in the spring.

Jealous that you have a nice warm garage to work in, while I was outside all day working on mine, lol.

What mufflers did you go with?
 
Alternator date codes are (week - year). Looking at the picture posted it appears to be 3 - 68, or third week of 1968. This would be extremely early for a May 1969 built car. Even if the date is 3 - 69, it is still early but at least in the ballpark. Can you see any of the pinwheel date codes on the alternator. There will be one on the front and one on the back.

I got the skinny on the alternator when I talked with the original owner a couple weeks ago. he said that there was a problem with the alternator that would cause it to shake & loosen up the main pivot bolt that goes through into the head. Eventually, the bolt broke off into the head and a new alternator was put on under warranty and that's the one that came on the car.

Are you finding missing and mismatched hardware and welding done by a "fifth grader"?
I wonder if quality was dependent on price or options.

No mismatched hardware, but one only has to look at any K frame to see their crappy welding.
