trying to figure this thing out

How much bondo is a ton? I'll tell ya up front body work aint cheap anymore & your area is higher than most... If the metal isn't rusty it might be cheaper to have the dents worked out & skim coated with filler...

Fully body & paint including hanging quarters is likely 20K++++

And I'm guessing the previous replacement engine was a 361 not a 360... A 360 is a small block & wouldn't have bolted up to the trans... A 361 is just like a 383 with a smaller bore...
So the rear quarter panel have a flair line that you couldn't see. A friend and I started out with sanders and at one point took screwdrivers and were chiseling out the bondo on both sides. The car does have some cancer down on the bottom behind the tire but at most Its probably about a 6" patch job. You are correct about the engine but as long as I could remember dad always called it a 360 so I became accustomed to calling it that.

If your running an Automatic you don't need a Dana... 8 3/4 has a huge advantage in the fact you can have extra pumpkins with different gears... Taking a long distance cruise this weekend? Throw some 2.76 open gears in & head out on the highway.... Just having fun on the backroads or at the track? Throw in a 3:91 or 4:10 Sure Grip... I use to swap gears in less than 30 minutes...
not familiar with with swapping 3rd members and you are correct back in the day I had friends that would do this on the fly. I was thinking about possibly putting in a gear vender overdrive unit into it

Welcome. Good luck finding a good body shop to work on the car.
I think most of the bodymen I know have brain damage (joking, but might be true?) from all the paint fumes.

Welcome to FBBO @68greasemnky

I started wondering why you needed a replacement driveshaft....then I saw this photo...

You must have hammered that car....I have done many huge burnouts and never damaged a driveshaft....popped a couple of universals, but never the driveshaft. :D

This was after the driveshaft replacement. To be honest with you it was our only car and my father used it like a pick up truck. He use to load the trunk with sand and gravel for his side work. That's how I believe the rear sections started to rust out.

To be honest with you this was our only car and my father did a lot of construction side work. He used the car the same way others would use a truck. It wasn't uncommon for my dad to haul sand or gravel in the trunk and at the same time carry his tools inside. This picture was taken right after I had just installed the driveshaft. I really didn't trust the stock drive shaft so I really never did a burn out with it. Friends had warned me about the possibility of that front joint going out and instantly pole vaulting the car but when that new shaft came in I had to do it...lol. yeah front suspension was no better. I did completely rebuild it and replaced the torsion bars but just never made it to the rear.

Gears what are Gears

Gears what are Gears

I and many other Mopar people have a few of these stored away with different ratios... Pop the axles, pull the driveshaft & swap the assembly, fill with oil, reinstall driveshaft & axles, check & adjust axle endplay... Back on the road in 30 minutes...
