I owned 74 U-code Rallye WH23U4G184269 from 1986 to 2010. I picked it up for a whopping $600 and did a full restoration to stock specs except for converting it to slapstick shifter. It was sold/shipped to Florida in 2010. During my ownership in WA State I ran across 3 other 73 U-code Rallyes (brown, gold, and white), but never another 74.

This one was kind of a cheap one originally. Not many options. Odd setup interior with buckets seats, no buddy seat, and column shift. It even only had the cheapo single chrome non-sport driver's mirror. Not even the popular (at that time) vinyl top. But it did have the yellow color and sport hood paint. Loved that.

These cars definitely get overlooked.... and with some reason. They are heavy, mushy riding due to the isolators, and have reduced power compared to earlier cars. They make nice cruisers. Of course, much of that can be corrected. Mine ran a respectable 14 flat in the 1/4 with upgraded compression, mild cleanup on the head castings, but otherwise stone stock with a 3.23. sure grip. Loved the sound of that themoquad when you floored it!

Any production numbers out there on a WP29U3A. 73 Charger SE with 440HP?

Thanks for the info! Not a whole bunch of those produced. This one has power everything with 3.55 SG rear.

The SE had the highest production for 73.
Other 440 Chargers for 73
WL21U3 - 26
WH23U3 - 713

Thanks T2R9 for all the info. I'm thinking of getting back into a 73 Charger again. Considering a #'s matching triple white U code 2 owner car in very nice shape for $22K. Seems high but everything is these days.

If it really is in "really nice shape" and #'s that seems like a fair deal to me!
