just tossing up a thread using Napa 2441083 Starter (kinda just for my notes).

installed today on my 440cu with a TKO500 combo no issues.

the pic up on the Napa website looked like the original style starter i was used to but what was in the box looked like all the new PowerMaster/MSD stuff.

Site says Reman. 59.99 plus 2.50 core? Does that sound correct? RUFFCUT

Put one those in no issue with studs hitting block. Seen guys complaining about that.

Ruffcut - yes - Remanufactured. $59.99+$2.50 core.

Tip: order online and create a Napa account to get $5 discount

i took off that plastic part in the pics above but maybe i didn’t need to.

anyhow, did multiple starts and works like a champ. it has a new sound compared to the older starter...sounds cool.

I have the Summit Racing brand of the mini starter on multiple vehicles and didn't know NAPA had those starters available! Thanks very much for the info. When I need another, I'll use the NAPA brand! RUFFCUT

credit goes to Fran Blacker...he posted a pic of the Napa 2441083 box on another thread. i just created a thread with the part number for easier forum searching....hopefully.

Thanks Fran!

Someone let Kerndog know about this, since he's doing a 5 speed install, too...

Is this the same as the mini starter from the 5.2 and 5.6 Dakotas everyone was going to in the 90s?

Or different?

Yeah, what's the weight comparison between the two?

I bet the weight difference is more like 10 lbs. Could easily hold starter in the air while putting the wires. Try that with a regular starter, always resting it on anything. Edit the top was added after my 10 lb guestamint.

I was talking to watermelon, you'll have to ask him if you won. No, you lost bigtime.

Well you replied to me and I’m not a mind reader

Also I was going to say 7 but that sounded like too much.

Pretty decent weight savings in addition to the displacement savings and ease of putting on or taking off.

I think the "takeaway" here is that there is a CHEAP alternative to buying a $100 or more aftermarket starter.

Seems like I recall the terminals were in an acqward spot. Were they?

not bad. being lighter to work with, i didn’t even think about anything else when installing.

doing the long upper bolt trick to hang the starter on makes it easy too.
