I'm committed to resurrecting this old 64 polara. Its been idle for decades. Looking forward to gaining essential knowledge from this group. I have new leaf springs: will in stall in a couple days. Amazingly, engine is not sized: turns easily. Immediate problem is pulling the hub/drum off rear end.
Thanks, looking forward to posting.
Dan

Welcome from Missouri!!

welcome to FBBO you need a puller to get those drums off

Welcome from Alabama, pulling drums from 64 back are a real job. Luckily I came by a puller from the 60's that would do the job.

Thanks, I ordered a puller, we'll see if it does the job. I may try building a puller as I have a week.
Thanks

Welcome from Indiana. Early Bs are my favorites. Too bad you don’t live closer, I’d loan you my puller. Might be possible to borrow one from Autozone, O’Reilly’s, etc...

The one that O'Reilly's loans here is not strong enough. You will break their tool. Ask me how I know.

Welcome aboard Dan!
Thanks for joining!
Post more pics!
Where did you get your springs?

Big unit!
You are correct, I had to "Heat" them also

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. What I have done with my '64's is trash that tapered axle rear end and replace it a '68 to '70 b-body piece. They are about same width and bolt right in. This gives you one piece axles and makes it easier to work on brakes and set axle end play if you have changed gears in rear end. Joe Suchy and Jim Kramer sell a lot of stuff from these cars. Also, get a Classic Industries catalogue.

:welcome: aboard. Lots of penetrating oil, back off the shoe adjusters and use a ball pein hammer to hit the drums near the axle face to crack loose from the axles. Safety glasses, and gloves a must.
