Hello from New Mexico

Never had a hub that this wouldn’t break loose.

The correct puller. It took a week on my 56 Desoto. I would come in each day and beat on it a while with my 3 lb. hammer and leave it for a while. One day close to a week later I had walked off from it and was doing something else when it sounded like a shotgun went off inside the building. Walked over and sure enough it had finally broke loose.

Welcome from El Paso!
Thanks, I was recently searching in el paso for a engine rebuilder, as I'll need one. (Engine not seized) can you recommend a good shop for rebuilding a 383 in el paso? Thanks

Be working on the car in Ontario this summer, if we can get cross the border.
Hey, Dan. What part of Ontario? I am South East of London. I don't see the border opening up any time soon. So, is the car in Ontario?

Thanks, good to know.

Car is here in NM. We have a cottage near Lake Huron, Bruce County. My wife is Canadian so back in the may,2020, we were able to cross into Canada, no problem, well see what happens in May 2021. At this point I plan on trailering my car up for the summer to work on it in Ontario over the summer.

So that would be Port Elgin/Southampton area? We have gone to car show in Port Elgin, about 3 hours away. We are under "Stay at Home" orders right now in Ontario. Essential travel only. Currently, Ontario has pretty well run out of Covid vaccine due to Pfizer production slow down.

Welcome Dan. Looks like a four bll engine. Get a pic of the pad under the distributor for the stamped numbers and letters.

Like stated, back off the shoe adjustment first. A light puller won't work too well. Don't pull on the drum, only on the studs.

Thanks, that made the job look easy. Yes that puller is more heavy duty than the one I ordered. went with cheap one. Attached is photo of engine stamping surface under dist.

Yes

I'm committed to resurrecting this old 64 polara. Its been idle for decades. Looking forward to gaining essential knowledge from this group. I have new leaf springs: will in stall in a couple days. Amazingly, engine is not sized: turns easily. Immediate problem is pulling the hub/drum off rear end.
Thanks, looking forward to posting.
Dan
