Edelbrock cutting back?

Doing business in Cali$ornia isn't cheap. We'll see more and more of this as the state continues to squeeze the people for more and more money.. only the very rich will be able to live in California....like KD

Probably just shifting more production overseas would be my guess. A couple years ago I ordered an adapter plate to mount a Holley on a spreadbore intake, it was an Edelbrock and was a terribly made piece! It was advertised as made in the USA but the box said made in China? Pissed off I called Summit so they could remove the made in the USA tag then called Edelbrock to complain, they simply said that while all of their core products were still made here other parts like dress up stuff and adapters were made overseas so they could be competitive. I told them that I used to buy Edelbrock without concerns, now I'll have to look closer so I don't buy their **** parts in the future. My guess is core parts are next, hope I'm wrong.

Fight or flight mechanism.
In this case flight is likely the winner.

I can't imagine how tough it would be to manufacture product in California, hopefully they'll stay in the US. I admire them for doing it so far. Vic recently died so I imagine he anchored it at home.

The article states its the headquarters, not manufacturing facility. They are owned by Industrial Opportunity Partners which makes sense to consolidate management and operation staff.

"In February 2020, Industrial Opportunity Partners acquired COMP Performance Group, whose automotive brands include COMP Cams, TCI Automotive, FAST, ZEX and Inglese."

They ought to move to Texas, or the Midwest.

I heard that they are moving to Mississippi.

"some of the operations will be relocated to the company’s casting foundries in San Jacinto, California."

No production was done in the facility being closed.

Given a choice, I will buy US made stuff, often at a premium price. The problem is when that stuff has crappy quality, which it sometimes does.

If we want to truly take back manufacturing from China and other countries overseas we must make sure that everything we make is top quality. Unfortunately today that is not the case.

Yes, I was going to say this almost exact same thing. I deal with both Edelbrock and Comp on a daily basis literally. The racing industry is changing as we know it. All these big investment companies are buying up and merging companies. It's a disaster for all of us that try to race ever weekend. I. O.P, P.M.I, Race Winning Brands, Western Distribution is buying up everybody. The good ole days of the Mom and Pop businesses that function for the racers because they are racers are over.

Every week we see GM , Chrysler , Ford replacement parts with company logo embossed and a made in china sticker.
Lol, more and more late model car and truck components are from mexico or china,
Just not replacement parts , also factory installed.
Hell if we get sheet metal from Canada we are happy.

Be careful with the whole made in USA labels. Both China and Japan have named cities USA in their countries so they can place the "Made in USA" labels on their products.

Us toolmakers are a dying breed. I haven't had an apprentice since 1992... and nothing coming up behind us. That's what happens when you take things for granted. If we want to return to the top in manufacturing we need to start training people in the trades again so we can go out and kick some *** like we did before.

Nobody wants to get their hands dirty anymore. Everybody wants to start at the top and stay there.
