That’s not for a charger, that base is for a challenger. But the challenger cap shouldn’t have that inner seal like that. And a challenger cap has the pivot and latch on opposite sides from what you have. Is the part number on the cap or the base? My challenger cap has 3466435 Cast in the back of it.

The latch should be to the rear of the car. The cap on post #1 has the latch to the front. Challenger fuel filler on pass side, Charger and 69 Barracuda is on drivers side.

That would make sense as I bought this for a Challenger , never used it , but what threw me was when I looked up the part number 35 years later. Thought it was a good mistake... thanks for clarifying.

Your part looks similar(exactly?) like the cap on my 67 GTX including the seal on the lid.

Yes but look closer the b-body caps flip the opposite direction and have a different mounting base.
a b body cap that’s says fuel on it is made a Mirror image of. An E body cap. The Lid flips the other direction.
