For whatever reason I can't order a standard Hellcat in Canada. The choices go from the Scatpack 392 Widebody right to the Hellcat Redeye (in price ranking, lowest first). Considering that they are all built in Brampton, Ontario (and hour and a half down the road from me) it seems very odd. Can't order a Superstock either.

In any event the 717HP standard Hellcat "stripper" (no options, manual transmission) seems like a Hell of a Deal (if you will excuse the pun). $54,900 is just under $70,000 $Canadian at today's exchange rate. Cheapest used Hellcat on Autotrader in Canada right now is a 2016 with 50,000 kilometers on it (that's 30,000 miles to you) and it's at $60,000 $Canadian (call that $47,000 $US). For that difference why would you buy used?

I am sorely tempted to order one. My reluctance (other than the fact that I can't ACTUALLY order a Hellcat in Canada right now) has to do with colours: no Plum Crazy (they've got something called Hellraisin which is a dark purple) or Sublime (or whatever they called it a few years ago). Those are the only two colours I would consider.

I could, of course, buy a used one: there are a couple Plum Crazy used ones for sale on Autotrader in Canada, and BOTH are more than the $70,000 that a new Hellcat would cost!

I'm going to wait and see what Chrysler does next. It makes no difference really whether I buy a Hellcat this year, next year or not at all. I love my minivan (yes, I admit it - cheap, great gas mileage, and hauls just about anything - I replaced my truck with one) and am on the hunt for the perfect B Body (preferably a '68 Charger). And once the snow is over I can drive my '73 Imperial to get my old car fix until the right car comes around.

I think the best bargain you can get right now new is stripped out 1320 challenger. Comes with a 392 hemi, transbrake, slicks, rear seat delete, drag suspension, ram air headlight, and a nhra membership.

It's a cool factory sleeper especially if you remove the 1320 badges from the fenders.
A new car that runs 11.50's stock is a hell of a deal. You could install a Whipple supercharger on this and essentially have a sleeper Demon for less than a base stripper hellcat.
:D

Do you have to pay the 1,700.00 gas guzzler tax in Canada?

Do you have to pay the 1,700.00 gas guzzler tax in Canada?

Here are the additional charges on a Hellcat Redeye (will probably be the same for a standard Hellcat when I can eventually see one):

Additional Charges
Destination Charge. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $2,595
Federal Green Levy. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $1,000
Federal A/C Excise Tax. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $100

These are obviously Canadian dollars. So taxes are a Federal thing. We pay Canadian tax of $1100. We also pay provincial sales tax, which is 13% in Ontario.

The 1320 package isn't available in Canada. Here's what we can order. Remember prices are $Canadian. Sorry about the picture size. I tried to re-format it but the photo is resisting my efforts.

You can see the web page here. You will probably tell your computer that you want to go to the Canadian site as it will know (spying on you) that you are located in the USA.

Hellraisin is a great color!!! It's worth consideration.

Are you sure it's not offered? It's an option package you have to select and is only available on the non widebody scat pack.

It is an available package as it turns out in Canada. Option price is $3,995. Auto only though (transbrake). I really am looking for a manual.

Thanks for the heads up.
