Hi I am rebuilding my 67 383 2bbl engine and I have been looking for a 4bbl setup, today I found one locally for a decent price so I jumped on the opportunity. I know they are not date correct but I wasn't super worried about it, the intake is a 2806301 which I know is a 68-69 383 intake but the carb that came with it is a A5 4966S which i think is off of a 71 440? The A5 is what has me a bit stumped and also I just want to make sure this will work well with my 383 mild cam automatic transmission setup? Any help is gladly appreciated, thx!

Dang didnt even know they made a 2 barrel version for a 383 mopars like gas.

Yep, 71 440 A/T. Question, is it mounted on the manifold in the picture ? If so is that an adapter plate ?
Obviously the carb will need to be rebuilt. If you do it yourself get a quality kit and follow the instructions.

Yes it is mounted right now and thats the adapter plate it came with.

Carbs for 383's usually had smaller secondary blades than 440 carb's. Make sure that secondary bores on manifold are big enough for your carb. A5 is a manufacturer's date code. Without my Magic Decoder Ring right at hand, I am thinking it is September 5. Some one who needs that particular carb for a resto might be willing to trade another carb for it. 600 CFM Edelbrock would be good choice.

That’s a great carb for a 383. 4966 is a low perf 440 Carb so the throttle plates are the same as a 383 carb. It will bolt to that intake with no adapter. Use the choke Thermostat from a 68-69 383/440 4 bbl and it will hook right up.

A5 is January 1975.

$250.00 Can. That's about $75.00 US, Eh? Seriously, you did fine. I have seen people asking that much just for the 440 oval double snorkel air cleaner. The rest of the stuff was free. '68 cleaner with nipple for valve cover breather hose.
