I'm looking for these trim clips. They retain the chrome trim to the top of the doors and rear window openings on a '64 Polara 500. I checked with Joe Suchy, and he hasn't seen such clips. Does anyone here have experience with replacing these?

Have your tried looking here for those fasteners.......? http://www.rtspecialties.net/404.php He has photo's posted on a lot of the items he sells but not 100% of it.

There's also the possibility that a previous owner of your car swapped out the original clips and installed something else for whatever reason. I have similar aluminum trim as yours on my 64 Polara convertible and will do some looking here today for either my disassembly pics on the trim itself.

I had same problem with my '64 Polara 4-door. Mine has a wider piece of trim that drops down over that top character line. Like your clips, they are hard to remove without destroying them. My car takes 18 clips that are different than yours because of that angle the trim fits over. After harvesting clips from 2 sets of doors, I only had about half that number. I spaced the clips that I had to every other hole, and then stuck the holdings down with that "Alien Tape" advertised on TV. My wife had a couple of rolls of it that we had used on other projects. It really sticks. Alternative is 3M tape that you can buy at body shop suppliers. I tried contacting R/T Specialties with no result. I have heard this complaint from others as well.

If it's any help, here are some photo's that I took this afternoon of the top door trim and it's retainers from my 64 Polara convertible. Long piece goes on my door and the short piece sits behind it where the back seat and rear window are on the car. The longer length clips you see in the one photo are all in the longer door trim, short clips are in my short trim piece.

The clips are definitely different than your's Detroit Iron, but I don't know why. Maybe send a few of these pics to Joe S. again and see if he recognizes these?
