definition of a "street car"

The term 'muscle car' is always going to be subjective, off the showroom street legal from the factory. You might call it Muscle Factory cars.

I would love to see a Drag Week without trailers or support crew, chase crew.
You, Your car , and what you can fit in the trunk and a minimum 100 miles between tracks.

You keep it running all week with what you got with you and what you can grab from local parts stores.
That to me would be street car drag racing.

Call it what you like, glad to see the boys in Detroit are finding ways to keep the spirit going...

If it’s not legal to drive on the street, it’s a race car.

Then it’s a street car.

At the race track it means tagged and insured, no pro mods. You might have to take a 20 mile drive depending on the event.

Whining to the officials will get you nowhere lol.

See the term thrown around a lot right? Gonna be alot of different opinions I know. Thought it would be interesting to hear them. Another member brought up the question is it street car or race car driven on street? Got me to thinking and that's not always a good thing. Where does a guy draw the line? Maybe it's just what your willing to put up with. Thoughts?
I think if you use the purist since that started in the mid 60s? It's the cam. If the cam is a mechanical lift that needed manual adjustments? It's race. Hydrologic? Street. Now of course there are big Grey areas. But that seemed to be the target of discussions that targeted motors like the race hemi, Ford cammer motor. From competition in stock classes. Not officially the line. But certainly had to be a consideration?

If the vehicle doesn’t have headlights, tail lights, brake lights. 4 way flashers or turn signals, it’s not a street car.

I drive mine on the street. Runs on 93 pump gas. Has an alternator, mufflers, all lights and turn signals work. Has mufflers and Drag Radials. Drive it back and forth to work and cruise nights. 2 kits of nitrous just in case I am running late for work. I know there is always someone else out there who is faster. It is all I could afford to build.

That’s cool! I like it.

Ok, let’s agree that it starts with 50’s vehicles and up. No horseless carriages.

Many guys had a good looking car, But it didn't mean you could go fast.

So why disagree 33imp?

Jeez, they weren’t available on those cars.
