Hi guys-

Joined the forum back in July 2020 when I picked up my 1968 Coronet. Doing a tribute to my Dad's 1969 Super Bee he purchased new in 69 and had it custom painted. He passed away last year and we always dreamed of getting another one to enjoy. After securing all the AMD metal and 2 months of welding/fabricating I figured I'd post some pictures to update everyone...first pic is of his original car, the next few are of mine before the work and as of today. My car needed typical rust repair, rear frame rails, trunk, quarter skins, rockers and deck lid. Luckily I found a guy that specializes in metal work, dropped it off in December and picking it up to tomorrow. I will be doing all the finish work and paint in my shop. So excited...Hope you enjoy!

Thank you! Fun fact, I have been trying to get as much information as I can on my Dad's Bee...today thanks to a lucky hit on the internet I was able to track down the owner of the shop that painted his car in 69 "Stardust Custom's" in Round Lake, IL..the shop is still in business, under a different name, it was surreal talking to the owner although he didn't remember the car at the moment he did have an idea of who at the shop may have painted it. I sent him pictures hoping they had more pictures that I could use to help recreate the paint job.

Thanks MADCIMA, the only pictures I have to go from are old, so the paint colors looks gold. The car had multiple translucent layers of candy orange, red, and yellow over either gold or silver. Still trying to figure it out. Here!s a few more shots.

Car was picked up today from the welder/fabricator and delivered to my garage! Plan on starting the body work this weekend. Here's some pics of today's events.

Several weeks of grinding on the underside, front to back...everything is coated with POR 15. Dirty *ss work, crawling around on the floor removing 53 years of grime. Turned out pretty nice for what will be a daily driver. Now on to finishing the topside.

Installed new shocks, tightened up the front suspension. Just started sanding, and prepping for primer!

Been a bit since my last update, after months of sanding and finish work on the welds, I'm onto the second round of DTM, sanding again and hope to have it in high-build primer this weekend.

Got the car in high-build primer now, one more round of sanding, removed all the door handles/locks/mirror and antenna. Hoping to get it in sealer and start painting soon. Picked up a Bulge hood yesterday thanks to a lead from another member "1Tlew0"

Wow is all I can say. Honestly it’s not my fav in painting( please let me finish). I seriously look at that car and think of the mass amounts of time to mask that all off and say to myself you got stones and I like it! I dig it, I’m normally a stock paint job fan.... But I put a paint job like that above and beyond. So here is a tip of my ball cap to ya!

Thanks F4R/T...I'm with you, but my goal was to replicate my Dad's 69 as a tribute, pretty wild but what the hell, I'll be the only one at car shows with this one lol!
