I agree! Especially in California.its hard to find anyone that does chroming these days. When you do its months and months + big $$$
I imagine that California is a lot like Ontario with a lot of environmental laws concerning all the caustic materials used in the chroming process. Now that most cars do not have chrome bumpers, many shops that did this work have gone out of business. The few remaining can pretty well charge whatever they want, and they always want lots! Some guys in my area used to send their rechroming across the border to Michigan, where they could get it done cheaper, likely due to more lenient environmental laws. Now that our borders are closed, this is no longer an option. I have bought rechromed bumpers at Carlisle from a Tennessee plater for less than half of the cost of rechroming in Ontario.I agree!
