Looking to upgrade the wheels and tires on my project car from the scrap that is on there now. Car is a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500. Disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear, but may convert those to discs as well. Does anyone know the biggest size i can fit in the rear without tubbing? Or is there a method behind what I should be measuring and how to calculate backspacing to give myself enough wiggle room to get them on without a problem and avoid tire rub?

We got 255/60/15 Cooper Cobra on 8" Torq Thrust 515's careful w/ the backspace, I think it was 4" or more. It was tight but fit (barely).

These cars do not have a lot of room in the wheel wells. I made my own 15 x 8" cop wheels to get the back spacing I needed to run 255/60 T/A's. I think it was 4 3/ 4" back space. Although I had good clearance statically, when driving the car and it was moving around on its suspension on bumps and corners, I was finding that the outer tire sidewalls were getting marked up. I installed an aftermarket sway bar that resembles the ones used on Dippy Cop Cars, and that cured it.
