Super Bowl

Sadly, they have an entourage to film those 'very charitable acts' so that the masses see them in action performing those 'charitable acts'.....doesn't count as far as I am concerned.
Being noted for performing charitable acts is just performing ...or as others might say - Acting. :jackoff:
In some instances I’m sure your correct. However there are acts of unselfish charitable donations, time given to help the less fortunate done all the time for no other reason than its doing God’s work.
It’s easy to view sports figures with a cynical attitude based on the actions of a few.
To be clear it’s not the thought process of minority professional sports figures who object to discrimination I question. What I find offensive is disrespect for the flag

This was from the Super Bowl opening ceremonies 16 years ago. What has happened to the NFL and our country since?

No raised fists or taking a knee, just a patriotic theme honoring our once great country!

SOUND ON ... https://wallythekat.tripod.com/A_Pages/AA-Videos-YOU-Tube/NFL.html

In my opinion, this is how all sports national anthems should be presented. My personal pet peave is how a lot of these so called "performers" just butcher the song while trying to put their own stamp on it. Might as well fart it out instead.
One drawback to the video, RC, is we had to see Slick Willy's **** eating grin on it.

it's shame where/what a rathole we have gone "down" today

really is a disgrace, lame self-absorbed identity BS
everything based on skin color, social reengineering BS
bunch of whinny "oppressed" millionaires saying how
they were/are being held back, poor me, pitty fest
when they've been handed opertunities on a platter
for a decade or more, for playing a sport

aside from the teams playing in that #39 Superbowl,
I can't stand either team,
especially 'the cheater coaches' on one side

the intro was awesome

patriotic & entertaining, no real negative agenda
the American way

it's my 1st Amendment rights too,
no matter how offended you are

I enjoy watching college and NFL football and have no problem ignoring any political nonsense. I've been a Kansas City Chiefs fan my whole life and believe me it's been a rough lot of years of disappointment and losses. Watching the Chiefs play in last years Super Bowl was the first time I've seen my team play in it and I'm 52 years old and they won the sumbitch!! It's awesome to me to be able to see them try again today!! Forget the politics, grab a cold beer and watch some good football. Your all welcome to stop over, my shop of mopars also has two big screens and a fridge full of beer....GO CHIEFS
Similar recollections with our Packers. Many years of watching them get kicked around until Wolf, Holmgrem, and Favre arrived. Was HOPING for a rematch of SB I & II with your Chiefs - two seasons in a row one game shy. How we let ourselves lose to the Buc's still has a sour *** taste despite Brady tossing three interceptions! We found stupid quick. Good luck ya got a great team and QB. I'm a KC fan today...if I was closer might a joined ya in your shop.

Yeah was a little disappointed when the Packers did not capitalize on those interceptions. I would have loved watching a Chiefs - Packers Super Bowl. Titan was hoping for that too.

Sorry just a personal opinion, but I believe using any major sporting event to push a particular agenda has no place in professional sports. If players want to voice their grievances, fine, do it off the field or run for office. Call me old fashioned, but aren't players being paid to just play the game to the best of their ability?
I agree - the NFL commish made a dumb *** decision under pressure - wish he would have laid down a line saying "This is about football, nothing more, FOOTBALL, we're not in the biz of supporting or rejecting anything other than football...period." Like a neutral entity or whatever...******* football! And it's about FEAR and fear makes people make idiotic decisions. I had a boss once that said something that always stuck with me: "If you're trying to make YOUR problems MY problems that's not what I'm paying you for. If you have a solution fine...run it by me, don't be asking me to SOLVE them". That train with the NFL and other major league sports arrived and departed sadly...

Packers - That’s just the point of this thread

They decided to stay in the locker room all season long during the National Anthem

And for the NFC Championship game

Maybe they should of stayed in there during the first half also

I didn't try to lose sight of the number of players who might have been just caught up in this **** storm that would never think of disrespecting our Anthem - sadly as often happens ALL get labeled as bad. Aside from this, the NFL has evolved to a cash cow for the owners, players, sponsors, etc. I'm old enough to remember when it wasn't, at least, nearly as it is today. ****, retired players had to go out and find jobs to keep making a living. Today, many are set for life if they don't piss their wealth away. Of course, all along fan costs have done nothing but skyrocket. Couple hundred bucks for a decent ticket, $12 for a 12 oz. beer, $15 for a friggin burger, parking, etc. Well da ******* sponsors rule and start telling the major league sports teams what they can and can't do. Oh, say just one wrong word, or don't support some friggin cause they fear will turn off their buying customers = toasted. pathetic...

That's a fantastic photo! Put a KC jersey on Titan so he might smile!
I thought about getting him one but he doesnt want to be one of those dogs that jump on the winning train.

I probably saw a total of about 30 minutes of football all season. And that's coming from a guy who lives just a little more than an hour from the team with the best record in the NFC this season. I'm just totally turned off by how political it's gotten. I prefer to watch the Super Bowl highlights from the first couple of decades - when the players knew how to play a team game that wasn't all about self promotion on every play. And you can't beat the old NFL Films productions of Ed and Steve Sabol along with John Facenda narrating.

Walked in on the wife watching the halftime show.

a bunch of people with underwear on their heads. That was really weird. Then I left again.

I thought it looked like athletic supporters but same thing. The music sucked
