So i'm looking at installing some patch panels on the rear section of my front fenders on my 72 satellite, very common cause they are readily available on numerous sites, anyone have any helpful info to using these panels for repair? appreciate any feedback gearheads as i'm not a body guy but i'm learning to DIY as much as possible:praying:

I had to replace mine on my 69 Super Bee. I couldn’t find any so I just made my own. My experience with most of the panels I’ve had to buy is that they all need some sort of massaging to make them fit correctly. That’s a really straight easy piece to replace. Shouldn’t be too difficult. Are the supports/braces on the back sides of them in good shape?

When I replaced mine on my 70 the AMD patch panels had all the backside bracing stamped like the factory. I also ordered some from YO and they were front sheet metal patch only. About $100 price difference if I remember correctly.

You will want the fender on the car to tac them into place.
The door to fender gap and the in / out set on that panel is easy to screw up if your not set up on the car with the old fender in adjustment.
Once tac welded you can pull the fender and finish.

Luckily they were both between the front and back edge so I didn’t Have to alter the lines.

Well that's sounds good, small area to repair is always better.

Didn't think of that, thanks

Remember the 2 bolts/studs with nuts & shims that are used to mount & adjust the fender on bottom of that patch, the 2 used on mine were not there. Fabricated and massaging was required of panels

I just bought patches for my 72 charger. The quality was mediocre at best, but for $40 each its easier than making patches. They will require a lot of rework! Summit carries the Sherman patches. I couldnt find any AMD patches.

On my 70 Road Runner, I used the ones from AMD, they come with the bracing. I just cut the fenders and welded them in. I had bought a couple of fenders to cut up and make 2 good ones from the 4 but these are a one year fender, so I'm saving the two I bought.
