Nick, a lot of us know what your history is with Bb70charger500 but many here do not so don't let the ones that are giving you the stink eye bother you. We all know that Mopars are not cheap and the GM stuff is cheaper (well sorta) but you will learn a lot just working on it and then when you have more experience and once you get the chance to buy a 'real' car you'll have more under your belt to build a nice one! https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/members/bb70charger500.16788/
@ stanton you sir a dick head!
Leave the kid alone! Yes it's a mopar site we all agree on this but a 14 year old can't afford to build a mopar. This is a stepping stone ! The kid loves mopars and would much rather have one !
But this camaro was next to free! And so far I got less then $400 in this car ! It will be driving soon! The whole point of this build is giving the kid a leg up . He can fix this himself he can do the metal work too !
I rather a kid learn on a cheap car then on a mopar!
But by your standard I can make this easy his camaro identify s as a 69 charger! And his 350 identity s as a hemi!
So by your thought process this is 100% ok!
Also I've had more guys ask for a build thread then I can count so instead of being a dick maybe support a young guy getting into the hobby . I keep hearing kids don't like cars or work on cars! Well here you go !
Let's support him versus say some bull **** like **** off!
Welcome from Weatherford Texas! I'm glad to see someone from your generation taking such an interest in old cars and actually getting his hands dirty in the process. Keep up the good work, stay safe and don't let the naysayers hold you down.
No ownership for me.... Not that there aren't plenty I'd love to own but my Mopar addiction keeps me broke.... I've tried a few times but it's just never happened... Mostly Chevy Trucks, I like the 54-55 & 55-56 plus the 67-72...
I was already hooked on Mopars going pretty far back since my dad only bought them from as far back as I can remember but I found out how much he hated Fords when I found a 52 Custom 2dr sedan. Yeah, my love of 2dr sedans goes pretty far back. The thing had a flatty V8 and ran but smoked and the interior was pretty shot. The body was straight as an arrow and no rust and it was only 50 bucks and I had my own money from mowing yards. Dad said "I ain't having no junk cars sitting out in front of MY house" and that was that. Maybe it was a good thing lol. Anyways, I was pretty bummed about being shot down on it. Heck, the thing could have had 383 in it as I found one just a couple of months later! What I'm trying to say here is never shoot someone down that is trying to better themselves in learning about cars at an early age....
I think you guys are right. We need to help kids that want to learn. This knowledge will help you all through your life.
So, welcome. And make sure you check the body mounts on that Camaro. They are known to rust out. Also, if you replace the body bushings with the aluminum ones, it stiffens the car up.
Welcome from the hills of upper East Tennessee! Great to see the younger generation showing interest in cars! I'm mopar and my brother is Chevy ! I help turn wrenches on those chevys too
Some of the replies in this thread prove most of the claims over on FABO how a lot of B and E guys are stuck up *** clowns.
Never do we reject a good kid carrying the torch of American classic cars. The kid needs more help not criticism from an old guy who is lucky and can afford a B body or has had it for 80 thousand years.
I think the camero is a nice change of pace and might interest a few mopar people in buying one.
If you need more support kid, come over to FABO, we are a diverse crowd of car people.
