79 camaro “DeathTrap”

I still love the Camaro and Firebird models. Like our cars, they are not seen on the road much nowadays. I'd rather see an LS engine in a Camaro than a Charger.
I sold my '76 Camaro in 2002 to buy a wedding ring. It started out as a 305 automatic and ended up a 350-4 speed with a 3.42 Posi axle. It was a great performer and replacement parts were cheap.

Maybe the pushback is because this is an ALL Mopar site and while some of us do own other brands of cars, it is uncommon for the members to start a build thread about them here.
Good luck.

He's out there now putting motor together the rest of way a shipment of parts just showed up so he was very excited .
One thing that I like about YOU is your enthusiasm. This kid is sure to benefit from that.

Some of the replies in this thread prove most of the claims over on FABO how a lot of B and E guys are stuck up *** clowns.

Never do we reject a good kid carrying the torch of American classic cars. The kid needs more help not criticism from an old guy who is lucky and can afford a B body or has had it for 80 thousand years.

I think the camero is a nice change of pace and might interest a few mopar people in buying one.

If you need more support kid, come over to FABO, we are a diverse crowd of car people.

Rock on kiddo
Come on now.....
There will be critics on any ALL Mopar forum. The worst one in this thread was edited out and probably warned by a Moderator for his actions. Would you expect a Dodge Dart owner to be warmly welcomed at a Chevelle forum? Noooo....
Although I do like cars from other manufacturers, other than a casual mention, they do not belong here any more than a Jaguar or a Soviet Lada.
Maybe if there was some some sub-forum for alternative brand builds? If there is enough interest, maybe Joey might consider it.

Funny thing, back in the 90's I drove my Challenger to a Super Chevy Show, hauled my Chevy buddies down to Pomona in it.... Fully expected to be parking my Challenger out in the parking lot.... Nope, I got invited to park it inside the show near the front gate... And didn't get charged to bring it in... I'm sure a few guys talked **** but everyone I met was nothing but friendly & appreciated the car...

So I have no issues with a young guy who's interested in learning presenting his Camaro build here...

Oh, I also use to belong to a Falcon website since I have a 65 Falcon 2dr wagon... When asked about what other cars member owned I posted a single picture of my Challenger & had dozens of guys ask for lots more photos & about the build... Of course there were a few grumpy turds who didn't like me posting about a non-Ford product... Including the owner of the website.... That guy was always a grump, I wonder why the website died??

The oldest pic I have with him in it but I believe he's been around helping for about 4-5 years

Good evening everyone, I’d like to start of with a thank you for all the warm welcomes, it was nice to come home from school and read them! And yes I know my cars a Chevy ( I also know almost all of you don’t mind ) but I think Ive earned my place here from all the crap I give Ford owners :). I was not born with a “silver crankshaft” but I have been very lucky with a neighbor who’s probably the only reason I have a reasonably good taste and cars, I’ll give a top 5 dream list, 1 1940s dodge power wagon, 2 1970 super bird, 3 1969 charger, 4 any old military jeep, 5 1970 charger. These are my top cars and I hope to own everyone, but for now I can only smoke civics with a camaro :)

Good to see you replying, Nick - and DO keep us updated on your progress!
(Remember, old farts love pics - they're easier for our eyes to look at :) )

He looks & sounds like a worthy cause.
Maybe we should all chip in a help him get a MOPAR.
Or at least start hoarding parts. :D

Nick, welcome to site. You can see by my name I have a Z28. I’m currently working on a 1965 Belvedere II, because I bought a new one in ‘65. It was a big block 4speed car. For great information for you Camaro, join NastyZ.

Hey Nick!
What color are you going to paint "her"?
Melbourne FLA huh?
Been there many times in support of the Rocket Launches from the Cape!
Merritt Island to be exact.
Anyway...yeah, keep going man, and remember:
1. Don't shoot for showroom quality for now.
2. Make it "Rideable and useable"
3. Then it becomes a "Rideable & Useable Investment"
Take you time and "Bag and Label" everything along with Pictures, use as a Road Map to see how things go back together.....
Good Luck and most of all...Have Fun!

Being second generation skilled trades at Chrysler from 65 to 2008, combined. My family has owned more new Chrysler products than God should allow. My Chevy days were because of my son. In the 90's the 80's cars were what was happening. He had to have that 1985 Chevy G body. It looked and drove like new, 4200 bucks. I bought it and he paid me back by the month. There was and is no cheap good mopar for a kid to get into and go like that Chevy. There are only a handful of people on this forum that can go out and buy a winged car for 140 to 200 thousand. Most were bought in the 80' for a dime on a dollar. Looking back, what an investment for a car they could hardly give away. It cost to buy a decent mopar that you can get into and just go. Most kids these days are going to have to work up to that point, with that being said, this is a B Body forum, not an all car forum and It's full of guys my age and older. Nick is starting out and to invite him in will tell and show that we want and need people like him or one day, with no new blood, we'll be holding cars that few want. To me this isn't about his first project as much as it is about him. As his love for cars grows, so will his desire to get that mopar. If we help now, maybe, just maybe, we my be advancing in him the thrill of owning the best cars God ever created, the infamous, MOPAR!!! Yes, maybe I see in him something I saw in someone else years ago, that's my problem, not you guys or this forums, but let's not let this opportunity for a better tomorrow get away. As for me, Good luck to Jeff and Nick on his first step toward the golden ring!!..... Ulli

Plenty of chevy enthusiasts and owners on here! (you know who you are)
Very guilty as charged. Mopars are my favorite, i have six, but i have chevys too, so i sure dont have a problem with a kid who likes mopars, but wants a car to learn on! Sure beats heck out of a kid who just wants a $1000 phone to play games on!
Welcome Nick, and as far as i am concerned, welcome to your project too. Just save some bucks for your Mopar!

This car actually came out of merritt island junk yard was told it was in the area it's whole life I'll have him make a build thread I believe this weekend were going to pull it around front to stab motor and trans in it ! See if we can get her to fire

Very well written, my friend.
You hit on a major point here that I think gets too easily and often lost...
namely, that in this life, it's always about the people.
Hell, it's why we're on the planet to begin with - we're here for each other.
