Anyone done it? I will be in the next few years after I finish building the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A friend of mine ran a 392 in his '66 Charger until he could afford to get a 426 done up for it. Car was a real 426 Hemi car that he bought without a powertrain. I don't know what he did for engine mounts, since his had Hemi crossmember. I think if you use small block mounts, the old hemi will drop right in on a V-8 crossmember. The engine will bolt to a small-block 727 transmission. You have to buy a spacer plate, because the drive plate mounting surface is farther out of the block on an old hemi than it is on newer motors. 8-bolt new Hemi drive plate bolts up

Theres a Orange Dart up in Alberta here that had a 392 stuffed in it.. it was a Raffle car quite a few years ago up in west Edmonton.. its been floating around ever since..

Yes, I have the Trans-Adapter and SB 727. Do you still have contact with him to confirm the K-frame and mounts?

Thank you!

His crossmember was different than yours, unless you too have a Hemi crossmember. I am pretty sure the old hemi engines had the engine mount ears positioned on the block identical to the old 318 Poly blocks. When the new 318 was engineered as a thin wall block these ears remained the same, since the old 318 and the new one were interchangeable in cars. In 1967, U.S. cars got the new thin wall 318, but here in Canada we still had the Poly.

I don't have a K-frame yet, need to figure out what to look for! If you could confirm, that would be great. Thanks again.

A person I know up here , is putting a 331 in a 68 Barracuda. Seems to think it will be a fun ride when its done.

The 392 weighs a ton, 740lbs! Better off with a big block 440 (670lbs) or 400 (620lbs) it will be cheaper, make more horsepower and parts are available.

I will be making about 625 HP and 700 Ft/Lbs of Torque. I already have the Hemi and have done stroked 440-6's before! Bob Karakashian designs all my cams/valvetrains and always comes through for me!!!

Would it surprise everyone to learn that a 392 hemi is over 100 lbs lighter than a 426 Hemi? Compared to the 440, they are about 70 lbs heavier. They aren't "Boat Anchors" as everyone believes, but they are true Elephants! Replace the anchor intake, water pump and housing with aluminum amongst a few other changes I will be doing and you are well under 700lbs and very close to a 440 ;) i have built stroked 440-6 motors before, always wanted to do a Hemi. This literally fell into my lap, so I am going the check the box. Not completely sure what it will go into, but the 68-70 B-body is top on the list. Always wanted a '70 Coronet RT Convertible..........

56 DeSoto 330 in a 52 Dodge B3B PU. The truck has manual R&P (88 Dakota front clip) but isn't hard to drive at all despite the weight.
