Am I wrong?

Do the VIN and fender tag show RM27H9G but the engine and tranny show RS27L9G?

Nice car to restore at the right price.....I can all but guarantee if that car was disassembled and blasted there would be a lot of rusted out areas. The convertible as many of you know has rain gutters inside the car below were the top sits. They drain into the lower quarters and out drain holes. The drain holes get plugged up the bottoms of quarters rust out as shown....Also the gutters rot out and the water lays everywhere.
By looking at the video that might be the case here
The trunk extension piece looks suspect as well.
If you noticed the convertible well molding, it looks badly rusted under the trim, thats another problem area
Whats under the windshield trim is anyones guess, another trouble area on a convertible.....The rear interior panels I could not get a good look at but hopefully they are not bad as they are super hard to locate and expensive.
Id like to see what the final bid on this car is

I bought my first 70 Satty droptop in 1980, so it was only 10 years old. The quarters were already rotted out and the trunk extensions were disintegrated. I never fixed any of it because I was in college. Drove it like that for 4 years. Loved that car, 318 3 on the tree !!!

The car is a Road Runner convertible and a 4 speed car that is matching numbers, and it is a rare color combination too. There is a vendor who makes the rear interior panels. The car will be a cool ride once it is restored. They only built about 3000 Road Runner convertible cars in the two years that they were built.
 
I know your the man when it comes to these cars...I should have said that was my experience with my 69 Convertible
When I went to the guy who blasted the car and saw all the rot,,,well it was a eye opener
 

Since the engine and transmission are stamped for a GTX 440 car (RS27L9) is this car 'matching numbers'? The numbers don't match. Someone will also have to account for a 150 MPH GTX speedometer.

It seems to me that junk sells for way too much cash. Not much point, unless you desperately like the work, to fix one up. Certainly you're better off financially to buy a "done" car. On the other hands, it's not necessarily easy to get what you want (that I know - I've been looking for the "perfect" (to me) '68 Charger with no luck to date).
 
$31K for what's sure to be a lot of cutting, welding and patching once it gets home. Yikes.

Our cars have become unobtanium to many. Cars from the 80's and eventually the 90's will start to see interest rising among people who don't have $60K to buy a "good" '68 Charger R/T that still needs a little work but yet even more money to become great...
 
Have to admit this is getting ridiculous now . That car needs a ton of work at that 31 k already it will need another 31 to finish .
 
Damn, for that money you could buy a really nice 67 GTX or R/T that needs virtually nothing. The Corvette forum guys were going on about a 62 Corvette that went for $82k this week on BAt and was about $35 x 40k overpriced in everyone’s opinion. Maybe old cars are starting to sell off like some of the crazy housing sales now - bids above asking price, sell in first 24 hours on the market, etc.
