I have a ‘69 383 HP that’s still std bore and stock pistons. About 5,000 miles back I went through it with new moly rings, bearings, high vol oil pump, double roller chain and gears, Purple Camshaft 280/280, Lift .474/.474 P4452993AE with lifters. The 906’s, have had hard seats, new valves and new P3690933 valve springs w/retainers installed. Using factory ‘69 383 HP exhaust manifolds, intake and air cleaner. It is bolted to a 4-speed with 3.91 SG at the moment. I am considering swapping in a 3:55 SG. Engine starts easy and idles great. Pulls strong and runs through the gears quick. This is a daily driver when I’m not in my truck.

My question is, will an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake offer a noticeable difference over the stock 301 intake in real world performance (street)? Or am I better off leaving well enough alone? I’m open to opinions and suggestions.

From my own experience with a 426W, yes. On the autobahn, I got about 125'ish mph out of the OE stock, 135mph out of the Performer, and hit 150mph with the TorkerII. While I am sure you drive it like this (unless at a track), but I feel you will notice the difference.

Yes, the the change in low end torque is nice, do it! Good Luck

Well, think I’m going to have to give it a try.
I have pretty much the same set-up. With the new intake you may have hood clearance issues. Not a major problem with a drop base air cleaner. Just something to be aware of before slamming down the hood.

A regular performer or a Weiand dual plane might be a good choice to avoid needing a drop base air cleaner.
The old DP4B is also a great one but these are a little hard to find.
Any of the above will be an improvement.

I have the same engine as you. Not at the point of needing a manifold yet, but here are some interesting articles comparing different manifolds:
https://www.hotrod.com/articles/hrdp-0712-mopar-intake-manifold-comparo/
https://www.hotrod.com/articles/hrdp-0801-mopar-intake-manifolds/

They both seem to be the same article, Dulcich did posted the same in one of the Mopar rags he worked for. In the end, I believe Dulcich said that the Weiland was the winner with a slight edge over the E-brock coming in 2nd. Some say the the old E-brock DP4B is the best E-brock ever made. Good Luck

Yeah, I sent part 1 and 2 of the article. The performer RPM was pretty solid. Best was the Weiand Hi-Ram Tunnel Ram I believe, but if you don't want to cut up your hood then the RPM seems like the best option. Some others came pretty close.

I haven't tried the RPM on a 383, but it will be lighter, and run a lot cooler without the exhaust crossover passage.
At least with the 4-speed you don't have to worry about the trans kickdown like you would if it was an automatic.
Likely need a carb with electric choke if you require a choke.
