Went to install transmission today. 727 going on 400 block. Car is on jack stands in my garage. Install went fine at first. Trans bolted right up to engine on first attempt. Everything seemed good until I tried to secure trans to aft mount. The bolts were about an inch off. Investigation revealed the trans skewed towards passenger side of car. Further investigation revealed engine has a noticeable aft tilt, and is higher on the drivers side by ¼ inch compared to passenger side. Something is certainly out of limits here. Transmission is a Protrans unit so I’m confident it’s good. A capable shop did the block prep and dyno runs so I’m confident no issues there also. I did have issues installing the engine in the car. The mounts would not line up. The mounts are Schumacker Poly mounts. I have used them on other cars without issues. To get the engine in the K member (stock K member) I had to loosen the passenger side mount attach bracket to get enough clearance for the engine to drop in place. So… I’m thinking bad motor mounts. Your thoughts.
