Rebirth of my 1970 GTX!

I see them working on other Mopars there. That alone tells me they should have known better with the Rad support. I'd be raising some hell with the manager. That is absolutely unacceptable.

Beautiful car though. Original 4speed six pack?

I think you could still stamp the numbers in the new support. You just need a big chunk of steel for a dolly with a lip that would fit under where you stamp. And I think you can get the stamp sets at harbor freight., if not there I'm sure they can be found pretty easy.

Not including the front end damage, it looks a lot like my car did - solid floors but needed a trunk floor and rust repair to the quarters. Pretty solid, so you have a great base to start with.

Just remember something @eldubb440 told me: "These cars eat metal!" Expect to have to replace more once you start digging in; it's just part of the process.
Oh, yes! Lots more metal to be cut off!

perfect example....... your door jambs were a mess, and got replaced...... we also pried open the bottom of the hinge pillars where rust was creeping out; we were able to blast, clean, and do our best to rust proof those areas....... Tempil Bloxide weldable primer is an excellent anti corrosive.....we brushed in and on, then "blew" it into the crevices with compressed air

I've never heard of that product before. I asked what they do inside the frame rails and they said they put some pretty good stuff in there. Can't remember what it was right now...

Yeah, they do mostly Mopars there and know about the numbers so I was floored when it did not get done. Like I said, I requested it in person, on paper and in e-mail! Every time they said "yeah it will get done." The only response I got was "our customer service rep shouldn't have said that." He no longer works there so I had to deal with a new guy later on. Well, I made the request face to face with the general manager and the head metal guy with no objections. Ya know, I think I'm gonna send an e-mail about it right after this to let them know I'm still pissed about it! (even though I said I'm over it!) Anyways, it is an original automatic 4-barrel car.

So, I did send them an e-mail with 2 questions. I got one answered and the important one about if they have the radiator support numbers in a scrap pile got completely ignored! Oh, well. I believe this horse is dead and I'm not gonna beat it any more.

After sitting in 'the dip' for a couple weeks...

Frame connectors welded in! A couple upgrades I thought it would be well worth doing.

From my perspective, I fully agree that they are well worth it. I added a full US Car Tool stiffening kit and my car drives and feels really solid on the road.

Nice progress!

Good to hear! It's been so long since I've driven it I don't really remember how it felt to compare to how it will feel now but I'm glad it's done!

You won't regret it, especially since your car is a hard top. They more flexible even than my post car.

I also had the supports under the front fenders welded in, as well as the lower radiator support stiffened. I'm not sure how much these contribute to my car's good road manners, but you may want to research and consider these as well while you are in the construction phase.

Here are the front supports during installation:

Here you can see the lower radiator support (with the holes in it):

Looking good. Curious where you got those torque boxes?
I checked the invoice and it doesn't say where they got them but they did charge $673 for front and rear torque boxes! The frame connectors came from US car tool.
