Well that's some sound advice , think I'll do thatIf you want a Hughes cam call Hughes? They’re the only ones selling their stuff I think

They went from sae gross hp to sae net hp in 1972. Gross hp does not have any accessories. Not a lot of difference from 69 to 72. A little more... probably.I don't know a lot about the Hughes cams or any other cam for that matter but according to their website, they're designed for the lower compression 318 engines 1972 and up. 69 318's have higher compression and about 80 more horsepower than 1972 and up lower compression 318. Definitely check with them first. There was something on their website about needing to use race gas if you have a higher compression engine. The only reason i mention this is becasue i have a 69 318 and was looking to do the same.
One plus is that you already have 80 more ponies than a 72!
Here's a chart with mopar engine specs.

Right on I was looking at the voodoo line yesterday and was wondering what is really changing with the 4 that popped up but I'll go ahead compare the 2 you mentionedJust my $0.02
If all checks out good...and your pistons are not dished and less than about .05 below deck.....
Lunati voodoo 701 or 702...great cam...closes early...builds compression...more modern design..and speaking of design, its one of Harold (ultradyne) Berkshires designed for the larger mopar tappet.
I put a 702 in a 69 318 with eddy heads, patriot headers (fits with power steering if you have it), air gap and a 650 AVS2....moves my large B with ease...and sounds good doing it.
X2 on the timing chain set, and even manifold duals will be better than single pipe...you can always add headers as the budget allows. And unless your really comfortable with it..ditch the points distributor for pertronix drop in, or even a proform (MP)
