Heat Shield

Something intriguing to me in this photo is the body ground connection at the rear of intake. I always thought originally it was secured to the larger tapped hole in head above. Also does the throttle cable bracket U shaped portion for kickdown linkage on automatic cars appear to have been dipped in a rubberized like coating? I see traces of it under the turquoise paint. Thanks!

That's what I think, although not much left, I'd think the paint dripped down. perhaps the tube/stick weren't put in at painting? alot can happen in 55 years.

Very cool...I am missing that carb tag on my 3611..can you post that number? I will be sending it to Harms for restoration here in about 2 weeks. Thanks!

Every one I've ever seen in my 40+ yrs. of messing with the early big blocks that bracket is dipped in rubber, also the dip stick was painted! I've seen the tube painted and also bare with the end with overspray at the block end!

Thanks! If memory serves correctly the same carb was for 383/426 cars, manual or auto.

Do the 3 heater box mounting nuts appear to have been yellow zinc dichromate or black zinc? Does the throttle cable hold down clamp appear not to have been painted?

The top two photo's are of the heat riser heat shield? Amazing it still has traces of Turquoise paint.
That part in the pictures sure looks like the heat riser counter balance to me.

Here are a few pictures of the right side exhaust manifold and heat shields from my 1964 361 engine.

Def diff between LH & RH. LH has one closed hole mounting tab where the RH are both open. Bend on one side is diff on both. This one from my 64 Sport Fury 426-S

Did you find any foil type insulation under intake manifold?

So Rarefish your car had the half round shield on passenger side manifold as well as drivers side?
