Been like this for some time now. Have some down time and would like to fix this gap between the panels. Just don't know how. Your thoughts.

I think you can get new pads from classic industries?

The vinyl parts are warped from the Tucson heat. Deal with it, or find replacements on ebay. You might get lucky, but I don't think that stuff is reproduced.

the vinyl has dried out and shrunk you could place a want ad here
to locate better ones

I wonder if any of the dash pad recovering places could do anything with these.

The dash is just sitting there with no attach hardware. It goes flush when the screws are installed. What are those vinyl pads mounted to the dash frame called?

What are your thoughts on this: buy new or go the ebay, used route? Thanks for link n73

Kinda depends on what your trying to achieve... Nice used pads are getting hard to find so you probably won't save much... The repo pads probably will look better than 90% of the used pads your gonna find, but over $600 by the time they are shipped would make my cheap self want to at least look around for decent used stuff

Try Ditzer vinyl conditioner. Soak a small towel the size of damaged area. Put towel against damage area and cover with plastic wrap. Check every 4 hour to see how it's working. Might take a day or two? May not work or be short lived.

I'm not a big e bay guy but I did some looking last night and didn't find very much for used stuff. At the end of the day about a difference of a hundred dollars, two hundred at the most. And like Fran said will have to make some repair and most likely dye to correct color. I'm leaning towards the new stuff.

You may be better off with re-pros but my dash has A/C and as far as I know, no one is re-producing the center duct piece or the slider ash tray pad. I sent mine to Just Dashes. They did a nice job but they don't put the stitching in like the originals. Not sure if PG Classics does either. Here are some pics of mine before and after. About $900.00 back in 2014 for the 4 pieces.

Finding used that dont have the same exact issue is going to be a crap shoot at best.

IMO, save your beenies and buy the repops

I bit the bullet and sprung for the repros from PG classics. I was able to get a 10% off code but the shipping just happened to be almost the exact same amount, a difference of fifty cents. Go figure. I would expect them next week. I'll report on fit and finish when they are installed

That is not uncommon for where you live, we deal with it here in New Mexico also. Always had to by good used from back east. I think Classic sells them now also.

I ordered from PG Classics. The parts arrived two days ago. Been busy on other project but I'll open and post pics of the new stuff tomorrow.
