If a person had ordered a 74 R. Runner 318 with trac pac, would the car have a 9 1/4 sure grip and 355 gears... and a 73 R. Runner 318 with trac pac would be an 8 3/4 sure grip with 355 gears. In 73 or 74, a 318 R. Runner and no trac pac option would be 8 1/4 rearend

hamtramckhisorical

was a track pack option even available with a 318?

I don't think that the 8 3/4" axle was available in a B body after 1972.

wrong... 8.75 was available for B bodies after 72. I know mine was not assembled in USA and could be not the perfect example, but I have seen lots of them on the web. Mostly BB of course, but 340/360s got that too

The 8 3/4" axle was still in E body cars and the trucks through the 1974 model year.
ALL 73- late B bodies built in America had that ISO-clamp sound reduction rubber junk in the rear. I have never seen an 8 3/4" axle with that design.

Both 73's I have owned had 8 3/4 diffs. Both factory big block cars.

I would like to see a bare housing. I have never seen one. The ISO-Clamp rubber pads fit around the leaf spring in a way that was much different from the old style.

how many pics do you want to show that ?

My car was assembled in Vzla, BUT with parts from USA. just around 15% of the parts of Mopars assembled in Vzla were made with local made parts but still with original casts

That is a surprise! I'd like to see a clearer picture of just the housing. The center hole in the spring pad is a LOT larger in an ISO car. It is one way to immediately identify a 1973 and later axle.

I Know it got a larger hole for the iso assembly. My 74 got 8.75" axle with the iso clamp assembly. I replaced my springs with 71/72 which uses 5/16" guide stud and had to remove it, drill the hole for the larger 3/8" guide stud 73 and lates uses and longer to accept the bushings for the isolation pads, then the clamps with the big provision and the axle spring pad with the matching hole for the upper clamp provision.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

On a side note and if you care, All Chargers in Vzla from 71 to 74 got 8 3/4 axles and of course all 73/74 are with the isolated assembly. And they didn't came from the outer space, but from USA

I like the taillights in the red car.

This is the rear axle in the 73 Rally 400 4 speed car I currently own. Red poly isolators firm it up nicely.
