Traction bars or no traction bars (Which one looks better)

I know they don't do much for Mopars but I'm oldschool. It's a "look" thing for me.

1973 Roadrunner with peg leg for a rear end. Original owner had a set of yellow traction bars on it. I know they really don't do much with a mopar rear setup but I am thinking about looks only. Thought they always looked kinda cool. What do you think?

I've always liked the look of traction bars.......looks cool

I'll say they have the look from the period and it thats the look your after. ( meaning big fat tires and loud exhaust ) By all means put them on.

Actually all the Mopar people I knew back in the 70's just never used traction bars on their Mopars. We all run SS springs or pinion snubbers. I always saw traction bars on GM and Ford cars but never on Mopars in my area. Guess thats why I always just thought of GM and Fords using traction bars. And part may be we all were told just use the SS springs as thats all you need. And thats all I still use today on my 63 which hooks fine on a 9" tire. I just did not see many Mopars with traction bars back in the day. Ron

Traction bars on a Mopar make you look ignorant of the leaf spring design that we have.

Nothing screams "Chevy Craft" at me more than slapper bars.
True in the 70's, true now.
#adjustthatsnubber,son!

Never remember seeing them on mopars in the 70-80s, was told that's what the pinion snubber was for when I asked. Of course we did other stupid stuff, air shocks and shackles come to mind.

Skip the cal tracks and put a good spring and shock package together with a adjustable pinion snubber , then you won’t have any ground clearance issues either! And the nice clean look goes with it. IMO

Its your car, your decision. PERSONALLY, may do it to mine solely for the "look" for my " non-original 72 Charger. Reminds me of a song. "....its my life I'll do what I want..." DO IT, ENJOY IT and DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF OF IT!!

When you take your adjustable pinion snubber out on the highway or hard road, don't forget to lower it.

Leave them for the Camaro guys. Besides, hidden pinion snubber is sneakier.
But a pinion snubber, when set for drag racing, is hardly streetable. At 1 inch or less from the floorboard you have no suspension travel to speak of. That's in jounce.

Thats the bottom line..........its your car so do as you like. Ron

I was 18 in '77, what did I know, I had no internet.
3:91 rear gears with a Sure Grip, Firestone L60x15's on the rear, Super Stock springs, 40/60-50/50-60/40 front shocks, yellow Lakewood Traction bars with the rubber snubber up against the spring eye, solid steel motor mounts and a Winter's built A727 transmission and a flexible solid shaft shifter contraption. Well if Mopars never intended to have traction bars on them, Lakewood should have had printed in the product's description, "WARNING NOT TO BE USED ON MOPARS".:luvplace:

I should add, my Charger was taken off the road in '87 and just brought back to life maybe around 2015.

When you hit speed bump too fast, speed traction bars will bounce the rear end up high, can be dangerous on the street.
