Yes

I run the Firecore Distributor and so far so great , honestly so easy to adjust mechanical advance

Jegs has great pricing

I was going to pull the trigger on that same MSD Street Fire or Pertronix Digital HP

Was having issues running these cheap aftermarket Mopar ECUs and RPMs until I found some Made In The USA older stock that actually runs a transistor

Replacement ecu boxes are cheap to replace. Just get another different one for a backup. for the cost of the conversion kit you can't go wrong.
Some people will swear by them, some will swear at them.
The advance curves are built in unless you have a non stock engine set up and like to fool with it. The advance is simple to change as well. You would only set it up once.

I was gonna do that but I see a lot of people say the orange boxes are junk
Mopar Performance doesn’t make ECUs anymore - Been some years

That orange box is a Chinese knockoff probably with a fake transistor

And you couldn’t give me a Pro Form Distributor

I’ve been happy with the HiRev electronic ignition kit the REhrenberg was selling on eBay. Gave up on originality, pulled the Prestolite dual point and set it aside. I also purchased the FBO HRR688 ECU. It seems to work well.

I like that Firecore distributor along with FBO's HRR688 box as mentioned above. Has a built in rev limiter as well.

Another option if your factory points distributor is in great shape/bushings etc. and you wanted to keep originality

Pertronix Igniter Conversion

The ones at jegs are they firecore or MP?

After many different parts and so-called kits with supposedly matching parts which are supposed to play well together I went to the msd6al with full mechanical billet distributor and blaster 2 coil. Everything just works and with bushings and spring assortment I can dial in whatever works for the engine.

System has 3 sparks up to 3k, sure makes starting easy. This is just my opinion and what works for me. Of course if you’re trying to keep the original look there’s probably fewer choices.

 :xscuseless:

You mounted your blaster 2 sideways I heard you can’t do that. I was looking at those but wasn’t sure which one to get cause of mounting. I want to put the coil back stock but don’t care about ignition box!

 This may draw fire but My understanding is these coils can be mounted horizontal or vertical just not upside down. This coil has been there for about 6 years now and around 25k miles and has never had any issues or problems. This car has not had a single starting issue since the MSD was put on.

I don’t like the coil being in that spot, but we are trying to balance the upgrades with the overall look of the car. My Charger I mounted the coil where the windshield washer was, and before that it was up on the inner fender next to the hood hinge area.  :luvplace:

I get the basic blaster 2 which is usually the least expensive one. You can pay more for the “hi vibration “ or any other “special” names added on, but I don’t think there is much difference. That’s just my opinion. Make sure that the blaster will play nicely with whatever stock ignition parts you might use. I know of others who were mixing parts trying to save money and or keep with the stock looking appearance and had issues.
I am not saying it won’t work, just be prepared for some gremlins and plan out your work in steps so you can see any difference as the work progresses.
