69 Charger wiper pivots in cowl

I am getting ready to weld the cowl in and was wondering if my wiper pivots not being in center would be a problem?

I would want it a little better then that,any play on the nuts to line it up better?
 
NO Don.. then your seals won't sit up under the cowl and cover the hole. Can you move the cowl back any? My AMD cowl fit just fine.. and a good thing as my metal man didn't have my pivots to test fit as you are doing!

The cowl is original and is aligned to were it was when removed. as the spot weld cutter holes line up.
I did try to move the cowel to get the proper alignment to the pivots. But it kind of self locates In the window channel.
So the seals you mention are sandwiched between the lower cowl and pivot flange right?
 
Something has to be out of whack Don. If that is the original cowl, the pivot shafts should be pretty much centered in the holes. The foam gasket slides on the shaft and then is bolted up, sandwiching it to the upper cowl. The gaskets are not that big of diameter and would never seal the way you are lined up. They are just like the foam gaskets used on the heater core through firewall.

could it be the mounting surface got a little bent somehow? looks like it could be corrected by changing the angle
 
I agree with hunt,something is not lining up,did you remove the lower cowl n is it possible to move it ahead,from the pic its not out much as i would guess less than a 1/16 inch
 
Ok thanks Joel and Steven. I watched a video on how the seals are installed so now I understand what has to happen.
Eldubb I will look it over to see if the mounting surface can be moved or maybe I can move the cowl slightly. I just thought that the opposing window channel angles self locate it, but sometimes when these panels are removed they get tweaked and it can be difficult to get them to line back up.
 
Just to update this thread.
I fixed my pivot centering problem by putting a pipe over the pivot, and pulling. This did not bend the pivot but did bend the surrounding metal under the mounting plate.
