I know you guys down south have had a rough go with the weather this past week or so and I hope you are all safe.
In Iowa snow and cold is part of winter. I know I am one of the minority that loves snow and I don’t mind the cold. We. Had a beautiful snow today big flakes and ended. Up with around 7 inches. I got to spend some time on the snowmobile and got to blow out the drive with the tractor. I had a pretty good day!

i loved the snow when i was younger, the cold kills alot of funky stuff and refreshes everything its just my body doesnt like it so much anymore. nice barn too, very cool!

I don't know how you do it Scott. I also live in Iowa and have for 52 years, we also got about 7 inches of that white crap sunday but I have grown to absolutely with out any doubt freaking hate snow and cold. I do love Iowa summers though so I will stay here and go to Arizona for the winter season in a few more years, already shopping for houses out there. I just need a big enough enclosed trailer to drag a few toys down there with me. S.N.O.W. = **** No One Wants

I like snow when I don't have a lot of other plans. Snow drives a need to shovel, snow blow, clean off cars, etc. I have 265 feet of sidewalk I have to clear every time. So if I have a lot of plans, then I get grumpy with snow. If not, then I enjoy it.

Indifferent these days. It just makes it harder to get to the barn and back. We enjoy the scenery though, covered in snow. We don't plow or fuss with a blower. Just let it lie, let it pile up under the eaves when it slides off the metal roofs. If it gets too deep in the driveway my neighbors all have plows and tractors and skid steers and track hoes etc...just drive more carefully.

I used to like the winter when I was younger. Ski, hunt, and ice fishing kept me occupied. As I get older I'm not a fan of the cold and snow. Nice barn you have there! 440'

I pulled a foot and a half off the top of the trailer and the camper last week. Snow doesn't really bother me either.

I love snow. 13" in my yard already, another 3-5" coming down right now. I have an AWD Grand Cherokee diesel that goes anywhere I tell it with no drama, and I keep the cupboards stocked so a day at home is no big deal. Snowblower chugs through anything up to 18" with no problem and I love the way everything looks covered in white. The dogs love playing in it too! The only thing I hate about it is people like the knucklehead on the way to work today who didn't clean the 4" of snow and ice off the roof of his car, and nearly caused a 5 car pileup when all that crap flew up and off his car and people were scattering, jamming on the brakes, trying not to lose their windshields and trying not to rear-end the guy in front of them who slammed on the brakes.

CLEAN YOUR CARS OFF BEFORE YOU DRIVE THEM.

Texas will get its' act together. We got froze hard, and a lot of folks got worked. Snow is neat.

As I'm 90% retired now, my plans had been to move to a warmer climate as several of my old friends have done. Some have no regrets. As a WI-nite last time I liked snow was when I was around 15. But having been in FL and AZ in the summer, to me it's too damn hot to do much outside anyway unless you want to be in a pool. So it's just a trade-off to me; too cold or too hot depending on the time of year and location so looks like I'm going to stay put as I have my workshop and garage I've arranged for years for endless projects btw the house, kid's home improvements, and my old car. Most of the snow I handle with my old plow (4/10 of a mile long driveway). I'll keep bitching about the snow and know that's all it is...bitchin. lol

When we get this much it takes me about 2 hours on the tractor (no cab) then about 45 minutes on the skid steer (no door). The skid steer is the minor clean up and then to do my 40x50 dog run. I know I have always been a little on the odd side but the older I get the less I can take the heat, cold don't seam to bother me as much. I have good outdoor clothing but I can work outside all day at 10 degrees in a hooded sweatshirt, hat and gloves. It has to be pretty dam cold for me to put on insulated coveralls.

Yeah - it's strange, when I was younger I had no problem with the heat at all, my wife hated it wondering how I had no problem with it. Now I sweat like crazy...well there also was a time I didn't have to piss so much...and could hear better...and could see better...I'll stop here...

I don't hate snow
I don't care for the shoveling or it ruining ****,
decks, houses, carports, cars/trucks etc.
when I was younger I did a lot more activities in the snow

I lived in Alaska when I was younger too..
I loved it up there...
But it snows way more here than there, it comes down sometimes
in feet at a time, it just doesn't stay around as long, if I wanted to live in it
always I could move 20 miles upcountry & be in all the winter, 10+ft or more

I love to ski, how can you hate snow ? if you love skiing ?
Like hunting when or after it snows is pretty damn cool,
easy tracking etc.
It's just cold when you sit around or wait, especially if it's coming down hard
I do love riding quads or sleds in the snow too

I live where it snows here (up country 10+ miles it's far worse)
live here mostly to be away from the inner-shitty douches/BS/crime
& I do like being closer to nature, the mountains, lakes, streams, wildlife
4x4-ing, boating, fishing & even hunting etc.
all the snow hampers a lot of that activity, where you can & can't go easily...

PITA for the domestic animals too,
having to dry off the dogs every hr on the hr, PITA

Clearing walkways & driveways or the decks, sometimes roofs/gutters
when we get dumped tons of snow regularly, sometimes several ft at a time
taking time away from doing other things
I actually enjoy doing
albeit;
mostly do it for my elderly dad so he doesn't fall
& a couple other older families or relative upcountry
for the same reasons, for their safety or peace of mind
more than for me
isn't my form/idea of fun
it's forced work, takes my time away

The cold is different in iowa than it is down here in Oklahoma. I spent around 10 years in NW Iowa and would rather have -10 up there than 10 down here.

I lived in a few states where snow was
prominent in the winter. Minnesota,
Indiana, Illinois. I've also lived in
California (best climate witnessed),
Texas, and New Mexico. Southern
Texas ice storms are a bitch. I've
never witnessed such carnage as
there, even in Minnesota. Big rigs
and motor homes in the medians,
flipped or jacknifed.
Once in a while we get one of these.
But it usually melts off in a few days,
as day time temps average above
freezing.

So far, the 2nd snow storm hasn't materialized. Got an inch of powder last night. Ho-hum....
