turn signal and horn question

trying to run down the problem of the horn going off on some left turns. i pulled the wheel looking for a bare wire and all i noticed was a brass screw with a spring that was so loose that it could go side to side beside up and down, so could this be the problem of the horn ? and is this part available anywhere . i tried to tighten it pushing in on it with no luck
 
If that small wheel has enough side play that it can contact the steering wheel metal hub that could do it. Also look at the gray insulator that’s under the copper contact plate on the steering wheel they are know to get dry and brittle and crack. That’s what insulates the horn circuit from ground until you push the horn contact switch.
 
Post a picture of what you are trying to tighten up?

this is a picture of what was trying to tighten up, it springs up and down but has a lot of play from side to side
 
As long as the brass wheel is round, free and is in contact with the brass plate on the wheel you should be ok. Look at the contact plate and you should see a ring where it has been contacting on. Is it a stock wheel? You could post a picture of that also. As long as the spring loaded contact is riding on the wheel and the wire going to the horn switch is not rubbing you should be ok. I put dome die-electric grease on the contact areas. You could try running with the horn switch unplugged and see what it does.
 
As I stated above check the insulator between the contact plate and wheel hub.
Here’s a pic to help you to know what to look for trust me there’s a good chance this is the problem. In the pic you’ll see the gray insulator that insulates the copper contact plate from the steel wheel hub which is ground. The horn relay has positive on it at all times the horn switch completes the circuit by connecting the other side of the horn relay coil to ground.

Looks like a flat spot on the little brass wheel from not turning?
But that shouldn't be a problem anyway. My car got for years the factory assembly with the roller stuck and getting worn for years and never failed. Most TS replacements are being made in fact with a plain stud nowdays ( I guess with softer metal, bronze maybe instead brass ).

Just to be sure the picture with the wheel should have a retainer plate over the top holding the turn signal switch assembly down to the housing. It has 3 screws. Your picture does not show it so either you have it off or it is under the switch or not there. The switch needs to be tightly mounted.

Does your switch have the retainer shown in the above post?
 
mine is different, all wiring is underneath the cam and the only protruding piece is the contact with the spring and also using a grant wheel and installation kit

What holds the turn signal switch down?
 
the power wire going to the hub that attaches to the spring horn contact broke ,can this be bought or fixed?
 
thanks for the correction i need a new ground wire, where do i go?
