Dad gum, a sore toe can sure make ya not want to do much walking!

I worked in a healthcare related field for over 39 years. Be VERY careful having toe nails removed. I saw a few extremely bad results. If there is a problem with a stiff big toe joint, the sole can be rockered to take the pressure off the end of the toe. I would not recommend nail removal unless the absolute LAST resort.
Thanks for the advice. I need to check on the rockered toe.
Is that done with a inside Insert or splitting the sole ect ?

Maybe not a toe but I still feel your pain! After spending the last month or 2 tiling a basement room then installing radiant heat flooring and hardwood in another my knee is killing me! Just the other day I was taking a **** and for whatever reason squeezed my knee... Holy crap it feels like a big puss sack inside, all squishy:eek:. Feels like there's 1/2" of water under the skin, hope it doesn't mean anything because I'm leaving for vacation in a week where we walk 10 miles a day!
Have 'em drain it, give it a steroid shot too.
Did that for some years from age 13 to 18 (all my bursa fluid sacs around my left knee ruptured with injury).
Finally at that time, doc announced there was no more fluid to be drained and to prepare for replacement
of the knee.
He went on to tell me to get rid of any clutch vehicles and to stop playing sports.
I told him then he could have it when I couldn't get it working first thing every morning...

...which I still do, every dang morning, 42 years later.
"Get rid of the clutches", my ***.

This one has been puzzling to me, I'm 44 and never had any knee issues and all I did was spend a lot of time laying some flooring... Lot's of time! I wore the gel type of knee pads the whole time too, felt pretty comfortable but evidently there's still a threshold for exposure? Both knees bothered me then one straightened out after a short break but the other is still bothering me. Fortunately I got the water going through the living room floor last night to test it out, now I just need to put a few feet of flooring down and I'll be upright from here on out. Seeing how there was no injury and only prolonged use I'm hoping some downtime will help.

I get where your coming from, my Mopars is a standard and my toy is a KX250, neither of which I plan on giving up. After herniating a disc I was told to give it up which I did but the desire

After a couple of days of taking it easy, my toe is feeling better but kinda afraid to aggravate it by doing a lot of work today. It's still a bit sore but at least I haven't had to take any pain killer today. Only took 2 yesterday with one just before going to bed and actually got a full night's sleep! Sure sucks not getting anything done....

Day at a time! Glad it's getting better. Soak it inside her, I mean cider.....

We used all sorts of methods. Rockering works by tapering the sole of the shoe from the big toe joint to the toe of the shoe. This is done to alleviate upward pressure against the toe just as you are going to push off, for the next step.On some shoes you can strip, or peel the last layer and make the taper to the toe by grinding, then re glue the sole. Some times a metatarsal bar can be put into the shoe to take pressure off the joint. Other times we would custom make foot orthotics, usually for both feet. You could try an off the shelf pair of orthotics with a metatarsal dome. Try the simple things first.if your arches are flattening you should get orthotics. If you have an old pair of footwear, you could get a shoe repair business to grind a rocker on the sole. Shoe repair places are getting few and far between up here.
Most members of the Prescription Footwear Association should be able to help. We made almost all of our footwear, foot orthotics/arch supports, toe fillers, partial feet prosthesis, modifications on site.

Rushing to shut whole house water value after a water filter burst caught my big toe on the carpet. I have hammer toes, the toe under my foot and I stepped on it. Anybody who thinks an athletes who get turf toe and don't play are sissies never had turf toe.

I'm not a big pill fan but they sure do take the edge off....especially when trying to go to sleep.

As we get older many of us will get flatter, wider feet so your shoe size could have changed. New Balance makes a insole you can put into any shoes you have, unbelievable difference in comfort, way better and longer lasting than any other that i've tried.

Have some of the Dr Scholl's insoles but right now they are out to give my 'toe' some room.....

SOB!! That makes mine hurt just looking at it. That's got to hurt!!

Just remove the toe....
That thought went through my head too lol but not a viable solution. You have to compensate for the balance you get from the great toe if you lose it. It can be a solution to replace a severed thumb if the thumb can't be reattached .....
