Bare, clean metal. I want to primer for now and drive this summer. Then paint this next Winter. I want Buff color. Do I need epoxy primer , which apparently comes in only grey on the bare metal, then top coated with the buff Urathane , or just use Buff color Urathane altogether? I don't know if Urathane is water- weather resistant. Thanks for any help. .................MO

What i would do is spray it with the epoxy primer then spray it with several coats of sealer. Sealer is water proof. Most sealers & epoxy primers you can get in gray, black & white. What name brand are you using ?

I use epoxy for everything, no soft "filler primer" (epoxy fills just fine, SPI epoxy sands easy and is priced fairly) as far as UV protection, and moisture resistance, you should refer to the tech sheets of what ever primer you use....... SPI will also answer the phone and answer questions

Look at Southern Polyurethane (SPI)

Gray, white, black or red epoxy primer. And it has uv protection so you don't need to top coat. I've used it on 2 cars and it is nails. I topcoated my 6 pack hood in it with flattener and it is holding up very well.
Sounds like what I am looking for. The white or red might be OK. I will see if they have a dealer in the area. Thanks......................MO

UPOL Raptor anti corrosive epoxy primer is pretty good stuff.

Epoxy 100% and it comes in white, gray and black... You can even blend if you like.

The achilles heel of epoxy? - Sunlight. Epoxy will degrade in sunlight.

I think I saw , online, a epoxy that had UV protector in it. I have some good leads here, so I will check into it and report what I find......................MO

Check with Barry at SPI but I think their epoxy is only UV resistant in black. Maybe it has changed.

I just ordered from SPI And it is just what I need. Buff color not available but white will work fine. They said a lot of sun won't hurt because it does have UV protection, and if it fades a little like black might, The white will not show it. Thanks for the help folks......MO

Not completely sure what you mean by “buff” color, cream? I like PPG EPX900 industrial primer. Epoxy but for machines and stuff. Works great under auto paint. Cream color.
