Cutting to the Chase - '71 RR Value

Yep, if you don't grab it someone else will. I'd bet if they put that up on craigslist or facebook it would be gone in a flash. Good deal from what i've seen the past few months of looking. Especially if it's all there and not a rust bucket. If you're in the market for a 71 RR you not likely to find a better deal imho.
Have you sold a car in the last year? I wouldn't say that.. the amount of tire kickers, dreamers, waste timers and " more pictures" guys is astronomical. I'm really debating using a broker when I sell

71 Sattelite a couple years ago for $3,500.. 400BB
I'm 59, so I'm from an era when in 1979 at 17 yrs old I had bought a "used car" in 78...a 1971 Charger R/T 440 4bbl. I also made the connection for my best friend with a guy selling his 70 Roadrunner, 383 4 speed. I'm mentioning this because "back then" we used to scoff at the 400 engines. Low compression, "Lean Burn" and lackluster performance compared to our higher compression "performance motors". Little did we (or anyone we knew of) know how amazing the 400 blocks were and are, when built as stroker motors with higher compression but still fine for pump gas, and the standard add ons. I can't imagine how many 400 blocks wound up completely disregarded and in junk yards, and/or shredded and crushed for recycling.

Haven't sold one but i've bought two in the past 3 months. A 69 Satellite and a 67 Coronet R/T. I'm sure there are lots of tire kickers out there. I'm just saying from what i've seen the past few months, it looks like a good deal to me. I've seen a few cars pop up and were gone fast. It's just my opinion that a 340 RR won't last long at that price.

Absolutely, the good, complete projects are selling, I've been looking for one of these, they are rare

Sounds reasonable
If it's complete and unmolested and mostly operational really good deal.

Most of those reverse rotation blocks were a cam change. Sometimes heads...

You'll be hard pressed to find fenders with good lowers

@SMS68
If you went and bought it, like I and others suggested, well....
Let's see!!
:xscuseless:

I sent the official "I'll take it" communication this afternoon. It'll be a bit before I get it home...both of us are busy this week and I'm out of town this weekend. Hopefully have it home by weekend after.

I love it. I have it's clone as a 318 Satellite Sebring Plus... B-5 in and Out, Bucket seat auto console, white canopy car still wearing it's original paint with under 60,000 miles on it... That's a great price too!!

This car is GB5 blue.. If that isn’t enough incentive. Then how about this.. I’m trying to identify what kind of Rallye wheels are on it. If they are original “390” 15x7 with original center caps and brushed trim rings, I’d be tempted to buy the entire car, for the $6500, just to get the wheels.. I seem to recall 71 340 cars getting 15x7 wheels, maybe that was just E-Bodies.. If those are vintage 71 15”, just buy the car..

There was a 71 383 4-speed Sassy Grass Green Road Runner shell for sale, in my area, a little over a year ago. The asking price was $2800. That was just a shell with no drive train, no interior, no bumpers and no trim. Had 14” Road Wheels on it. Someone from the San Diego area ended up buying it.

There was a 71 383 4-speed ... Road Runner
A guy in New Orleans East where me and most of my friends used to live, especially back in the 70s and 80s when we were heavy into the car scene (heck, most of us still are) this guy had a factory stock 71 Roadrunner 383 Pistol Grip sitting in his driveway. His uncovered driveway...
Year after year, at least one of us would ask if he wanted to sell it. It wasn't moving, it NEVER moved.
It looked like the Portrait Of Dorian Gray, as year after year it gradually got worse. Tire getting low, lower, flat. You know the story.
We think Katrina finally put it out of its misery.
SAD.

I was told by the seller of this 71 Road Runner shell that the previous owner had completely disassembled the car for a restoration, then gave up on it. Probably deciding it was too much work and somehow “lost” a lot of the parts in the process. I’m thinking how the **** do you lose the bumpers, the whole interior, the dash, the seats, engine and transmission etc. Now if he had told me that the guy had lost his mind during the restoration, that I can understand..

It’s been awhile, but would the Rallye wheel option show up on the broadcast sheet if I’m lucky enough to find one?

Yes. The broadcast sheet and window sticker are the only places you’ll find wheel options. Regardless if either of those are present, I’d ID the wheels if I was looking at it. My guess is they are not vintage 71 wheels he is including with the car. But, maybe they are..

The car is pretty much sitting where he left it after he hauled it in lol. We’ll see. It’ll be part of the adventure!

I'd take it mate , hard to find a solid shell let alone all the rest of the car complete ... If it has the RR grill I'd take it and happily pay the shipping and tax to the UK ... Yeah really !
You only live once make the most of it
