Yesterday, we purchased a book on Amazon (see photo). The author died recently under very strange circumstances (say he jumped to his death from his high-rise apartment). Now he has disappeared from Wiki. What is going on in this world, pinch me please, I must be dreaming this stuff up!

Amazon is doing a "Virtual" book burning along with many other companies. If there is something you really like or want to save you need to find it in a hard copy so it's preserved. Many examples on this as of lately.

You're not dreaming.

They stopped publishing six doctor Seuss books because of so called racial stereotypes. Doctor freakin’ Seuss!
Who's they? It was the publishing company from what I understand.

Dunno. On the news they sited the drawing of a Chinese guy carrying a rabbit in a cooking pot as being racist.
A chinese with slit eyes and buck teeth and text that said he was eating with sticks. I don't think it was that bad but someone did.

I’m pretty certain that no kid, ever, developed their opinions of other races from what they saw in a Seuss book.
It’s a crazy world.
We have one of my mothers school textbooks from the late forties. It talks about eugenics, and how white people are smarter then blacks, and that orientals are smartest of all. In a school text book. That, I find offensive. A Chinese guy with a rabbit in a pot not so much.
On a side note, my mom was always quite racist. I guess it’s how many were raised back then. She really hated Jews.
As a Christmas present my daughter had my DNA done. Turns out I’m part ethnic Jew.

Don't know who the comment in post #18 is intended for. The point of the thread was Wiki removing the author from its encyclopedia (not Amazon), the book from Amazon has been mailed.

As I understand it Amazon no longer offers the books.

See posts 2 and 6.
