Just developed a slight tick and shut it down immediately due to the 5.7's reputation.
Another project, just what I need.

It had not yet thrown a CEL...

Now you have to pull it and do a complete overhaul.

There was a video, Uncle Tony's garage where certain lifters don't get enough oil. Think they were in the front of engine cyl 1 and others. If this is happening surprised that someone has tapped into an oil gallery and run a tube to mist those lifters? That sucks Bob. Any updates on the Cuda?

Hopefully soon.
I'm about out of patience

Man! You can't buy a Ford, You can't buy a Chebby, And you can't buy a Dodge. WTF?
Everyone's quality control has gone to ****!

that sucks

good luck with the overhaul

maybe get a lil' more oomph out of her too,
while it's already open

A friend works for a city municipality and he said the police cars were eating cams and lifters. From what he found out excess idle time was the cause. I do not know why that would be unless lower RPM'S affect oiling due to lower idle pressure and less splash. Where higher RPM'S equals higher pressure and more oil splashing around.

Big debate on this, one camp says its lack of oil flow, other side claims it is just shitty roller/ lifters.
No matter who is correct, THIS SUCKS!!!!
My wife has a 2016 Charger R/T, I guess we better get a factory 6.4 cam and hell cat lifters before its too late!!!!!!

Good luck!!!

I just found another video. Talking about the MDS system only pressurizing 2 sets of lifters at a time while in MDS 4 cyl mode. He was saying that when the car is at idle it never goes into MDS and never pressurizes the lifters. Pretty good thought pattern on how it all works. He said you don't hear about earlier Hemis with the issue just the 09 and up Hemi's. Which is when the MDS came into play.

Here is that video.

It already can't handle stock specs. I don't think I want to put more to it.

Design of the block and angle of lifters.
Lack of splash at idle.

I took the worst of the lifters apart. None of the needles were broken or appeared to be worn.
The tips were blued from the heat, but they actually ate into the axle.
Maybe a hardness issue with the axles along with oiling issues.
I won't buy another until they update the block design.

Just put it all back together with new parts, you,ll get another 140.000 out of it and be done with it. Not much else you can do.

Don't you miss the old Chrysler corporation? They wouldn't have let this BS go on for years and years.

8 lobes on the camshaft had damage to them. Pitting/wear.
Only 1 lifter was bad and that destroyed the lobe.
Oiling is a large player, but this had to be a bad camshaft to begin with.

I wonder if there is any type of oil additive that would help, prevent this issue?

My Grandpop, used to SWEAR by adding a bottle of that STP oil treatment, at every oil change.
He claims he had an oil pump take a **** on an OLDSMOBILE engine, and was able to baby it home 20+ miles because of that stuff.
Call it luck, or STP, Pop swore by it.
ALSO WORTH TO NOTE:
My grandpop's newest vehicle was a 1985 GMC 4X4 305 V8 at the time, LOL!!!
Because of him, in any older engine, that calls for 10W30 I have added that stuff for 25 years.

That being said, I have not been adding it to my gen 3 Hemi engines.

If this lifter/camshaft issue is due to lack of lube at idle, or low RPM, I wonder if a product designed to "hang in there" would help out?
Maybe some of that NANO lube stuff?
Just a thought.

Early Gen 3 nothemis liked to lose valve keepers and drop valves.
IIRC there was a thread on this a while back and it was determined a different viscosity oil solves the problem.
