Thinking about replacing my stock rear springs on my 68 Rt with Super Stock Springs. Going to use 2 right hand side springs. I know I'm going to need the 2 inch extensions for the springs but just wondering about the shocks. Will I need the longer shocks with this setup ? When I put the SS Springs on my 68 Dart I had to go with longer shocks just wondering if it's the same with the B Bodies.

If you get new springs check out ESPO springs. Great people,I was disappointed in the SS springs
I bought from Summit Racing. Espo can give you plus1 or plus 2 if you want height in back. I would buy from them again.

Exactly!

I went with ESPO Springs only problem is everything is on back order and springs are 6 to 8 weeks out.

Put SS springs on my 68 charger. Slight rake and leans to one side. happy with them and didn't need to do anything special with the shocks. Just ordered KYB's

:BangHead: thats a bummer, good luck and hope your happy with what you get.

Using two of one side is a good idea if you don’t want it to lean. They suck for handling but for launch they work pretty well. I prefer handling so I don’t use them.

I use 2 left hand springs on both my 64 Polara and my '67 R/T. Mopar Performance springs, I think last 3 #'s on them was 455. The second leaf on these extends further back to rear shackle and helps support weight of B-body better. Remember that these were designed for lighter A-body. I found that the matching right hand 454 SS spring was starting to sag because second leaf stopped well short of the rear shackle and was bending in this area.

Does anyone else make a good leaf spring for the B Bodies besides ESPO and Eaton. ESPO is out 6 to 8 weeks maybe and Eaton is way to expensive

All you do is adjust the torsion bars so it sits level with SS springs. Every set I have put on I did that and the ones on my 63 I had to do that as they have been on the car since 2008. I race mine sometimes so I wanted the correct left and right springs on it. If it sits high on the R/R adjust the left front bar a little and so on. Has worked fine for me since the 70's when I first put a set on. Ron

I agree that the torsion bar adjustment will get it to sit flat, done it before. My main point is that unless your focus is the track, the uneven loading on the wheels and the arch to the rear springs will have the car handling poorly for regular driving, as well as having wheels lock up early under heavy braking.

I agree, I don't go to the track ever but do play around on the street though and who doesn't lol what I'm looking for is a little more lift in the rear end so if I did the Mopar SS Springs I would buy either 2 lefts or2 rights but I don't like the idea of the 2 inch hanger extension because the Mopar SS Springs are made for A Bodies so I decided to go with the 1 inch lift ESPO Springs. I put the Mopar SS Springs on my 68 Dart GTS with KYB shocks and that improved the handling of the Dart a 1000%, I couldn't believe how much better that car handled.

Well I have to disagree here as my 63 handles like a dream. I drive it all the time on the street as it is a 99% street car as I only race it once or twice a year. Corners fine and drives great as a regular driving car. Of course its not a road race car but what old muscle car is with stock suspension. Ron

You've got to be kidding me? This is a joke right? Poor handling and wheels locking up..haha....yeah ok. S/S springs paired with the correct shocks actually give a decent ride, contrary to what most will say...I run S/S on both my cars and the ride is so good that my wife has yet to complain about a shitty ride, and that's been 10yrs on my dart and going on 5 with my coronet.....last time my wheels locked up early was when I was still on front drums

If you're cranking up a torsion bar to even it out, depending on how far you crank it, you're increasing the load on two corners and decreasing it on the other two. This means the two light corners lock up earlier than the other two. Fact. Possibly not in your experience, certainly in mine, certainly in the physics of it. Obviously discs help a lot but not everyone has those. Also, it depends on your handling expectations but fundamentally a positive arch leaf in a corner steers the rear axle outboard (opposite of what any car built for handling does). This provides oversteer. For most people's expectations of handling in these cars it's likely fine, sort of a poor choice if you're one of the people loading up their front end with big sway bars and custom control arms. As for ride, I said nothing about that, can't see why it would be much different. You seem defensive about this, just pointing out the facts and the physics / geometry of the suspension, no need to be a jerk.
