Have a possible line on a I believe a 64 413 engine. Has the trans brake auto transmission. Does have 906 heads. Casting on the block 2205697. Stamped V 41 Didn't see a 3 and also stamped HP. Not familiar with the earlier stuff. Anybody with an idea of value and if there is a demand? Also a 361 but the casting number didn't have seven digits. Only saw the last four and couldn't make them out.
Thanks in advance.

V41 is:
V-1964
41-413

Parts (pistons) will be expensive due to age and popularity. A 400 or 440, while still expensive in their own right, but less expensive than the 361/413 will be.

69Bee is correct, but there would just be something about having a 413. Especially if it has the chrome valve covers that say "413"

That’s one of two castings shared by 413 and 426 street wedge. I bought one and rebuilt it for my Fury. As 69Bee said, pistons are a bit more of a challenge but not terrible, especially if you want stock. Perfectly good engine with some nice power.

If stamped HP from the factory it would be either a police engine or a 300k engine. Doesn’t matter a bit of course as they are all the same. Crank is balanced for 750g pistons instead of 832g like a 440, otherwise the same as a 440. Never noticed that lower weight to be an advantage. Heck, put a 413 crank in a 440 once and it was perfect, smooth, didn’t know they were balanced different until years later and simply couldn’t tell the difference.

I had a 1964 413 block that I had bored .060" and put 426 Street Wedge pistons in. It ran great, with no running hot. I don't know whether finding 426 pistons would be any easier than finding 413's, though.

I usually don't save them as the demand is very limited and even less when they are stuck and crusty. Last year a buddy and I bought a group of 63/64 Chryslers, 300J's, 300K's and a New Yorker. Think we only saved the ram 413 and still have another left as it was a 4 speed car. Pulled a few goodies off the engines and that was about it. On the flip side another local Chrysler resto guy sold his 64 413 and trans for $600 to some guy because he had to have a 413. So if you have the time, patience and place to store it, the right guy may eventually come around.

Boy a 413 would be nice to have. My old mans 64 Sport Fury would always smoke my Uncles 66 Coronet 500 that had the 383 in it. My Uncle kept trying though haha. Was a good running car 4sure
