Did 1969 383 HP engines come with a windage tray?

As far as I know 340 small block and all Hp 383, 440, Hemi all used it.

That's a GREAT question as I'm trying to find out if my 383 in my Charger should have one. It's wierd as the parts manual does not show it in the dreawings but they mention it.

Perhaps we need to ID what we mean by HP 383.

My Chargers 383 is a non-HP (330 hp), so did mine have a windage tray or not?

The description above is for a 1968 or 69 dodge 383 Magnum engine. They put in some of the parts from the 440 magnum listed above. Magnum is a word that Dodge used, Commando and super Commando were Ply. names for the same engines. Not listed above, but included was also the windage tray. The windage tray was a kind of new thing for production hi po engines at that time. I would guess that 95% of the car guys had no idea what that was, including me. In 1970 the 383 magnum compression ratio was lowered to 9.5 an timing went from 10 to 2 1/2 degrees btdc, but hp remained at 335. Also included was the tin plate on top of snorkel that read 383 magnum. That's the way I remember it anyway. If your car doesn't have one, you can put one in if you like and I think you would need a different oil tube. I don't think you will notice one ounce of difference in performance unless you are into building a monster motor.

Thanks! So just 5 additional HP makes the difference between an Non-HP & a HP engine.

I also believe the 330 horse power version used the same cam as the 2 barrel version. That would make more sense on the lesser horsepower vs the windage tray.
